Makes the best gingerbread -- my grandfather says so
When my grandfather was a boy in the early 1930s, he made the mistake (?) of announcing at the dinner table that he loved gingerbread so very much that he'd like to have it, and nothing else, for dessert for the rest of his life. The family had a farm girl staying with them at the time, and her stubborn streak matched my grandfather's; she decided that she'd teach him a lesson by serving him gingerbread every evening for the next year. No matter what the rest of the family enjoyed for dessert, my grandfather had his plate of gingerbread. It only served to turn him into the world's (or at least our family's) premier gingerbread connoisseur. Now, 80 years later, he'd still be happy to have gingerbread every day, and I'm happy to bake it for him! What do you do when you bake for someone who really LOVES gingerbread? First, you need a truly wonderful recipe. Check: my mother developed a great recipe for soft, dark, molasses-tasting gingerbread, with buttermilk and other basics. Next, you make sure you have the very best ingredients, and that (of course) includes really excellent brown sugar or molasses. Thus, I was delighted to find India Tree's Light Muscovado Sugar, which really does make a difference in the flavor of the finished product. When I don't use molasses, I use this sugar, and it is wonderful. I also use it for any number of other baked goods, including many of the fantastic recipes in Rustic Fruit Desserts: Crumbles, Buckles, Cobblers, Pandowdies, and More, which has become a favorite in our house. When my grandfather does ask for something other than a pan of gingerbread, it's bound to be a treat from this fantastic cookbook.Another advantage to purchasing the large jars (aside from having more around for baking) is that you need not worry about clumping and hardening, as frequently happens despite best efforts with bagged sugar. When it comes to quality and cost-effectiveness, I haven't found any product at a supermarket, gourmet or otherwise, that compares to India Tree. So, if you like to bake, you'll do yourself a big favor by purchasing this superior sugar.

Nice product, large size is convenient
Good muscovado sugar - I often use as a substitute for regular brown sugar. The large container is more convenient and economical than the smaller bags.

Expensive Brown Sugar
I don’t see any difference between this sugar and brown sugar. It’s very pricey.

Delicious
When I was on the hunt for sugar that was as raw as possible, Muscovado was mentioned several times. It is a very delicious sugar, with a light molasses flavor - a healthy substitute for store-bought brown sugar (that is only white sugar with molasses added). I use it as a replacement for brown sugar with no problems. I've also used a little in my coffee for a unique flavor. I cook with it quite often and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting raw sugar. This is the lighter version; the darker has even more molasses.

Real brown sugar
One jar the cap is broken but I have an empty one I can replace the lid. The seal was intact so I’m okay with it. I use this instead of fake brown sugar. It is less sweet because it is not white sugar colored with molasses. I hope I can always afford this option.

All Sugars Are Not Created Equal
Never heard of Muscovado sugar. Discovered on a YouTube video. Purchased from another seller in a different size. Bad packaging and expensive. But soooo good. So I came back to Amazon looking to score some more. Found this different seller/bigger size/better price and dove in. Unfortunately, somebody in the chain of custody dropped the ball (package) and one container sustained a cracked lid, which required me to find a new container to house the golden deliciousness. But now I have plenty of sugar for baking (cookies are just better with this sugar) and the tastiest Irish Coffees I’ve ever had (and served, to the delight of World Cup party-goers).

Love this sugar. It’s very good but it is a bit pricey. I will continue buy but hope the price doesn’t go up
