Work good so far, some items not included
I really like this model of camera and have several others that I recently intensively used with good results. I wanted to get a couple more camcorders for another upcoming project and looked at the versions that have come out since the G30, and found each of them lacking in one way or another in comparison. So when I found these renewed ones for a not-horrible price I ordered two. Both have come and I've gone through them and verified essential functions. I need to spend more time with each, but am pleased with the purchases so far.Except for one thing they'd be perfect: Neither one had the original lens hood as shown in all the pictures, and getting a replacement is over $100 each. That may be why they weren't included, as that nets the seller another $100, but it kind of sucks to be taunted and then it's not there. One had a lens cap and the other didn't, and one had the original power supply and the other had a wall wart. Both had large capacity batteries and that was nice. Both batteries seem to work fine and last much longer than the original supplied batteries. One had the strap a little scuffed and the other didn't, which is no big deal to me either way.I'm finding other lens hoods that are significantly cheaper but do considerably less at protecting the lens and staying out of the wide shots. So I'm happy to find the cameras still, but a little bummed about the lens hoods which, given the circumstances, seem to be a fact of life. For what it's worth, I had forgotten about the little doors on the strap side that hide the connectors and make that side look sleek and nifty. But since I use the connectors pretty much every time I use the cameras, those doors are the bane of my existence and on all the others I've pulled them off and highlighted the labels next to each connector in white, as I'm often in the dark and black on black lettering is not at all helpful. I'll wait to do that till the 90 day warranty expires.Delivery was quick and just fine. I appreciate Amazon once again.

Perfect DOF balance for events, clean image sensor even when gained up, impressive audio
I liked this so much that I purchased a second (g40) soon after. What initially impressed me was the optics, and enough manual picture control to suit my needs.. can dial in a white balance, it does a nice job with auto-iris/gain when needed (shutter priority) for an unmanned camera, and quick manual control access when manned (not bad considering only one ring and a thumb wheel!). The ring and its settings is smooth enough for diverse push and pull needs once you get used to it (I personally would prefer a larger ring).Battery life is also excellent. And despite only a 1/8" stereo audio input (no XLR) this hasn't been a problem. Mostly I'm not using these for audio, but when I have needed them, I've very happily plugged in a Rode video mic, Sennheiser wireless, and the output mix from my Tascam 4-channel field recorder. One note on the latter.. if they will be in contact with each other, pick up a cheap 1/8" inline ground lift to avoid u wanted noises in the signal path.Oh -- one more thing -- the Active stabilization is *fantastic*, makes hand-held footage significantly more usable.

Worked for a while
Brought this to my first African Safari. It was working for a while, I deleted a couple videos and lost about 75% of the other videos. I have not found a way to restore the ones I lost..... will contact seller to see if I can get a refund. Not worth keeping.Update: Seller said to contact Amazon. Amazon was not able to help. FYI

The built in mic is terrible, so it's not usable for quality audio
I have several lav mics and zero of them actually work when plugged into this camera. The built in mic is terrible, so it's not usable for quality audio.
