Bought begrudgingly at first, left very pleasantly happy.
I bought this unit begrudgingly because this is the only sub that would fit in Pioneer's sealed truck box (Pioneer UD-SW300D) with the hole being a different size than every other normal sub cut out. However, after getting it installed, powered by a 1200w Pioneer GM-D9601 mono-amp hooked up to a Pioneer 4200NEX head unit, this unit kicks hard for all kinds of music. I listen mainly to metal, drum and bass, and outlaw country and with the included remote sub level with the amp, I can adjust the bass higher for metal/country and lower for drum and bass. The sub is crisp, clear, and especially in metal, hits hard with every bass kick. I was a little worried about it being a shallow mount and losing some range but the sub does not disappoint and I have yet to hear a song with missing lows.As a side note, make sure you set up your LPF and HPF properly. When I originally set the system up, I used none of it and the Kicker speakers I installed were muddying the lows from the sub. I have the sub LPF set at 120Hz on the amp itself (disabled in the head unit), the front speakers HPF set at 125Hz with 12dB/oct, and the rear speakers HPF set at 200Hz with 8dB/oct. I can hear every high and low from the entire spectrum of human hearing. Every bass kick, every snare snap, and every crash hit. Buying good audio gear is only part of it, setting your system up correctly is the huge difference and I'm merely a shade-tree enthusiast without any of the fancy audio gear to set timing or anything crazy.

I figured I'd better tame it down a bit
1st off, I'm a LOUD stereo kind of guy..and have had more "competition" style stereo's over the last 16 years. Now that I'm 32yrs old with a family, I figured I'd better tame it down a bit. But so far so good with these speakers! I've had them for about 3 months in a Ram 1500, and Damn near every time I'm driving, the music is cranked.I'm running them with a Power Acoustik RZ1-1500D 1500W Class D Monoblock Amp, It's not "super Bass" powerful, but it definitely does the job for a middle ground bass that you can crank or not if you want. I like a variety of music... anything from rap to rock, to Country Rock, (mostly rap) and these push pretty good through all kinds of music. It's nice and clean sound quality for the price! I tested the limits of my amp, and it was surprisingly loud, and these could have definitely handled more amp power than I have. .It's Modest power that you can feel, but won't blow your doors off by any-means.... It'll rattle my mirrors, but that's about it.

Amazing sound from a small pkg !!!
My son had a huge box in his Mazdaspeed 3 which pretty much took all the space available in his hatchback, so i ordered this Pioneer sub and the recommended Pioneer sealed box , his previous set up was a Kicker 10cvr122 which is a 12" dual voice coils sub , this sub is driven by a 400 watt amp which provided Plenty of low end , after removing his old set up we installed the Pioneer new set up and playing the same song before and after we compared the sound , i was surprised when my son commented that he liked the sound out of the Pioneer over his previous set up better , the sound out of this small box and shallow sub will surprised you , and being a sealed box the response is very "clean" , no you wont rattle the windows out a mile from your buddies house ,but inside your car you will have plenty of clean sounding bass that is more than satisfying, i have a SVS PB-2000 sub in my house and i love the sound of this shallow mount so much i will be installing one in my 2011 Dodge Crew cab, under the rear seat !

Impressive Sound Quality
So I recently purchased these to replaced the Skar Audio Shallow Mount 12's that I has in my F150. Those subs sounded great but they projected beyond the lip of the down firing bench box that I had installed them in. While those gave me plenty of bump, I decided to purchase these and swap them in. The design difference was obvious, These subs are thin. I think the entire sub was about as deep as the Skar cone alone was. Then the sound quality. Night and Day. It's a sealed box which I knew would restrict some good lows from hitting but these Pioneers sound like they're in a vented box. The difference was so impressive. I'm totally pleased with these subs right here. Incredible shallow mounts. If you need a shallow mount sub for your application I would definitely recommend these. I'm feeding them with a Pioneer GM-D9701 Amp. That thing is great too. A truly perfect pair.

This single sub in a sealed box hits way better then the 2 12s I have in a ported ...
Have this in a sealed single box and wow does it hit in my 2010 silverado. It's facing downward due to that how the boxes are for my truck. This single sub in a sealed box hits way better then the 2 12s I have in a ported box in my old truck. If your going for a cheap ground shaker 2 of these ran right could easily do the trick as just one turned up and rattle my truck. Only giving 4 stars instead of 5 because I didn't get all the little stuff that's supposed to come with sub only got sub in the box. Not sure if it was because the sub or the box I put it in but I did have to trim my box with a dremel to get the two to pair nicely.

Very hard hitting 12" sub for such a shallow design. Love the great Pioneer sound and quality materials.
Very hard hitting 12" sub for such a shallow design. I used this as part of my audio system I installed in my 2011 FORD f250 and it was about the only option to fit a 12" sub behind the back seat in a crew cab. You can also run 2 10's but I wasn't into the really loud booming wake up your neighbors kind of system. This sub sounds great playing some or your favorite country or old school hip hop.PROS:-SHALLOW SHALLOW SHALLOW!! This thing fits anywhere!-400 WATTS RMS-excellent instructions and packaging-high quality sound from PioneerCONS:-Wil NOT fit a standard 12" sub box cut out hole. Check before you order one or tell them your installing this sub so they can make it a bit larger.
