TabCat Pet Collar Locator Homing Tag V1 - Compatible with TabCat Locator Handset V1 only

This purchased as a replacement. I was happy to see that they added a small gasket. The first one failed as my cat likes to roll in dirt. When I opened the failing one to see what was wrong I was surprised at how much sand was inside. (must have caused a short) I am in the electronics field. I think that this product could be reduced in its size as it is a bit large for a cat. It was the smallest that I could find that didn't cost a lot. I used this tracker as a training aid. Now if my girls don't come when I call I activate the tracker and their collar beeps and they come running for their treats. I will buy it again should the controller fails. It is still working after 3 years.

This product has been AMAZING! We have a cat that we let out during the day but at dusk we bring him in and lock his doggie door until the sun is shining in the morning. It has been a strategy that we have employed to keep him safe from coyotes. Obviously it is not ideal, but when we adopted him, he was use to living outside and nearly tore our house apart to get back outside. This is our compromise. The Tabcat is WONDERFUL. Now, if he doesn't come in by dark we are able to locate him easily. Twice we were able to locate him in our neighbor's garage. He had snuck in as they came home from work and they never knew he accidently got locked up in there. Sometimes we use it to find him IN our home. We absolutely love the Tabcat. It has saved us so much time and heartache!

I used these cat tabs for my non-cat loc8tor for years. Since I have owned the device I have replaced the tabs (they break) more than I would like to admit. When they work they work well but they die easily. Sometimes they become intermittent. Other times the batteries die quickly or the mechanism that holds the tabs tightly together fails. I use heavy duty tape to hold them firmly together after battery replacement. For reliability/redundancy I have two mounted on one money clip. Gives me peace of mind.I love the concept and use it a lot. But expect to go through batteries and new tabs regularly.-----FYI Battery replacement:Long story with a good ending - The odds of getting a new battery in with the cover and seal properly installed is slim to none. After purchasing 100s of these brain-dead designed tabs and having them constantly die out after two or 3 battery changes I finally got Loc8tor to fix the issue. First I tried to get them to copy the "Tiles" much smarter tab design. Check out the Tile finder on Amazon. You can replace the battery with a blindfold on. After 10 years of complaining to Loc8tos arrogant staff and deaf ears, I realized they really didn't have it in them to design a normal tab with a normal battery compartment that a normal person is capable of replacing the battery. Tablet pet locator has been a live saver. We took in two stray cats. They are in and out all the time. The kitten likes to hide under beds. And the older ones likes to go under the house/camp. When we can't find them we use the locator. And it directs us to there location. Our older cat had disappeared for nine days before we bought the locator! We were heart broken. Had we had the locator we would not have had to hunt for him!

I could have rated this one tag five stars, however the bigger story yields a radically different rating. Therefore, one star.I originally bought a set with a receiver and two tags for my two cats. Right away, the batteries in the tags were going dead after one day of use. Then, within a few days, one tag quit all together. I ordered this new tag, and received it promptly from the shipper. Within a few days the second original tag quit for good. I contacted the manufacturer and they have been quite responsive with advice and they sent me a new tag. All was well for about five days, then the tag the manufacturer sent me quit working. A new battery, then another, did not fix it. I left it open in my house for a couple of weeks, then put a new battery in it and it worked, but the next day the battery was dead and that's how that tag works now. A battery a day. I wondered if moisture was getting in the tags, (I live in a rainy area) so ordered the silicone cases. I have not received them yet.Recapping: The batteries that came in all units lasted a couple of hours and were replaced with new. With new batteries the handheld receiver has been working well for four months. The two original tags terminally failed in just a very few days. The replacement tag I bought here almost two months ago is working perfectly. It still is on the new battery I installed. The tag the manufacturer sent as a replacement works, but requires a new battery every day.This product is a great idea. It makes finding the cats very easy. However, for it to be of real service . . . it has to actually work, every time, all the time!Based on my experience, keep your money in your pocket. This product needs better engineering. It is not ready for the open market. Loc8tor/TabCat, are you listening?

I bought the original set 5 years ago. Worked well. I don't know who makes this one, but one doesn't connect to the remote

The product worked as advertised. I guess I’m one of the lucky ones because my batteries have also lasted. Bought the package with the main brain and two cat mounted units that care with the silicone protector. Everything worked great. Bought a third tab for a new cat and no silicone protector. That was disappointing. But I have them. They work and I now I have to buy the protector.Oh well.
