Very stylish and fits my Luminara candles
I've been looking for hurricane lantern in which to place my Luminara candles. The opening is wide enough to fit the base (3.75 inches) and tall enough (mine are 7 inches though this lantern could fit an 8 inch candle). My spouse and I really like this style and feel they are well-made.I don't think they're actually glass - they feel like a high quality plastic. For me, this is good as it keeps the lanterns lightweight and I don't worry about them breaking out on the patio.Happy with my purchase!

Perfect for candle burning protection
I bought 2 of these and love them. They are sturdy enough to and look lovely with candle light flickering.

Nice, but causes flickering
We bought this to help our candles stay out of any air currents throughout the house, such as from ceiling fans. It looks good too, and we like the way the glass cylinder lifts up to allow you to trim the wick / clean the base / light a new candle. There was a bit of a surprise that we did not notice right away. In fact, it took several months before we did: the cylinder itself causes turbulence in the air (inside the cylinder). That is to say the flame dances quite a bit in the cylinder, even though we were pretty sure there were no fans/breezes in the area. Interestingly, we simply took the glass off of a lit candle, and voila, the flame stood still. We never saw that one coming. I don't know it this affects candle life, but we usually fiddle with the wicks quite a bit, getting them exactly centered for a good burn out to the edge of the candle. With the flame dancing around as it does, that's a little harder to do. As I said, maybe this does not affect the candle life, but I will say that I prefer to burn the candle now without the glass cylinder - less chaotic when all you want is a pleasant atmosphere. I do have one other such candle holder in SQUARE form that does not do this. I'd say I prefer that one. Your opinion may vary. This thing looks pretty whether you are burning a candle or not, so you decide. I subtracted a star because I prefer less flickering.

Not industrial glass, but nice with a battery operated candle
I think this looks very nice and is very rustic looking. However, I don’t think the glass is as good as advertised. in fact, the glass seems very light weight and may well shatter from a flame.I noticed another reviewer placing battery operated candles in hers. I thought that was a good idea and have done the same. It is quite pretty and safe. But, I don’t believe it’s worth the money I paid for it. Genuine industrial glass would have been great.
