Excellent quality post, but hardware disappointing
My review of this mailbox post may seem a bit picky, but consider that this is a premium post and carried a premium price, so the standard I judge it against is very high. This post is very high quality, made of aluminum that will not rust with a baked on enamel finish. I looked great in pictures, and it looks great installed. It is made to pair with the Coronado mailbox which is also extremely high quality. The post comes in four parts; the main post which is just a square tube, but is predrilled to accept the mailbox arm. First you install this tube with a concrete base, making sure it get it good and plumb. Care needs to be taken to measure, measure, and measure again to get the post in the proper depth and distance from the curb. The predrilled holes means you are stuck with wherever you set the post, no last minute adjustment like you may have on a wooden post. I set mine 42" above the street and 6" back from the curb to make sure it didn't get accidentally bumped. The second piece is the newel top which is very heavy and made of cast aluminum wit baked on paint. The third and fourth pieces form the mailbox arm; the main arm goes on first, it is very heavy gauge steel, and the other piece goes underneath to act as a cover after the mailbox is bolted down. It is also heavy gauge metal. The arm is notched in the back to accommodate the mailbox better, very nice.Overall excellent quality, BUT then I noticed the hardware which comes in a separate box. These are just simple bolts of the right length, the size and strength is good, but they were unfinished. So the standard silver bolt heads were going to be very visible against the black mailbox post. So I spray painted the heads before installing, I'm surprised at this cost they didn't come color matched. Then the bolts supplied to fasten the mailbox down were standard hex head bolts, leaving four very large bolt heads inside the mailbox. I would have expected round head bolts to be supplied for this purpose as they were for the rear supports, again I was disappointed in the hardware. Now that the box is up I love it, my neighbors have all noticed it. One installation tip; be careful not to over tighten the arm to the main post, the post is aluminum which is fairly soft and will bend if over tightened. I used a very small 1/4 ratchet to install mine and even though I went easy on it I did dimple the back of the post a little bit.

Peeling
Gorgeous mailbox; horrible paint. Started peeling off after 3 years, now I'm attempting to scrape / sand / prime / repaint myself. Regardless of how this turns out, I shouldn't have to at this price.

Very solid strong construction, but mailbox mounting bracket should be a few inches higher!
I bought several different posts at the big box stores. Was not happy with any of them. I bought this online from Amazon, it came delivered in very good shape except the box had an opening in it but nothing was wrong with it. Due to a shoulder injury I had a rookie dig the hole for it, didn't come out exactly at 12 inch in diameter and 24 inches deep but it was due to large rocks in the area. I first did two 50 pound bags of concrete, but it was still too shallow. I added one more bag. Let the concrete set for about 14 hours. The mailbox post was constructed of very high grade aluminum, it was painted nicely had an aluminum support bar and all was very well made and strong. My only negative comment was that the four holes predrilled to mount the mailbox support arm were about 2 to 4 inches too low to allow for 24 inches of the mailbox support post to be in the ground. When completed I was still at the very minimum of the USPS requirements. The manufacturer should provide flexibility on the mounting height of the support arm, my mailbox is a little low, especially for someone over 6 feet tall! Otherwise, the quality is very great. I also added a mailbox that I had for a while from the same manufacturer. This is a real story. Next morning I mounted the mailbox and support arm. Seven hours later my neighbor was doing me a favor and dropping off something and he backed into the driveway at a 70° angle which was no where near normal. He smashed into my new mailbox with his van! Believe it or not, the mailbox shifted about a half an inch, the post stayed absolutely straight and there was some scraping on the mailbox, today I touched it up with sandpaper and paint. His van did not do so well. His right rear taillight / back up light section was all broken and he had a 3 inch vertical crease in the actual steel body of the van from the hit! Very happy with this purchase! I am giving my neighbor a few extra bucks to get him a driving refresher course!

Good Post for a great price
I got this post on Amazon for almost 1/2 the normal asking price (saved almost a $100.00 which made it an excellent price or this quality of post. I have been looking for a new mail box post for over a year. I had spotted it about a year a go but thought it was to expensive at it's normal price. I saved it in my Amazon cart and eventually got a notice about the sale. After ordering the post was sent by Amazon and received it quickly and actually a day earlier than promised.. Everything arrived in good shape. The post is made of sturdy aluminum and is very strong. The directions were adequate but could of been a little clearer, but good enough to get the job done. All hardware was supplied and it went together well. I found that with almost 24" of the post underground that cementing it into the ground was unnecessarily at lest in Georgia Clay.I like the clean lines of this post. It looks great and is a great improvement over my old wood post. I am very pleased with it so far (2 weeks) also liked that they gave a good suggestion on how to maintain the post by suggesting to wax it with auto wax to maintain the paint. So I plan to do this when I wax my car, once or twice a year. Should only take a few minutes to do this but I can how it would help keep the black glossy finish looking good for many years.I would definitively recommend this post especially at the discounted prices recently on Amazon.
