Marathon Atomic Clock Is Great!
This little self-setting clock is exactly what I was looking for! Upon opening the box, I followed the yellow "cheat sheet" to get it started, I then placed it next to my kitchen window so that it could find the signal and gosh very soon (within the hour) it found it and began keeping precise time. There is a distinct little icon that shows up on the right side to let you know it found the signal and is now a happy camper! I like how the time numbers are 1 1/4" high and that they are visible even at 10 feet away, well I was looking at it in my kitchen during daytime. Mind you, it's battery operated; that means it doesn't light up continuously with a warm yellow background. To have it light up, basically when the room is totally dark like at night, I just depress the top of the clock, then it lights up for 5 seconds so I can read the time. It's a perfect little clock. Looks elegant in white and gold and it has a pretty stable base. I do recommend this clock!

Perfect low light bedroom clock
This is my second Marathon atomic clock. It picks up the radio signal to set times easily overnight in South Florida, very far from the Colorado transmitter.. The low background light is perfect for a dark bedroom, and you can get a bright screen with a touch of a big button on top. I like the date, day and temp features, too. Compact for a nightstand, but big enough to see easily. Perfect for me.Update: I still find the low light fine, but found the numbers difficult to read because the clock is angled backwards, so that the numbers fade away from our bed at that angle. I have taped something to the bottom of the little pedestal so that the clock is level, and the low light numbers read fine. The clock may work better for a desk setup, where you are looking down. I was able to adjust the angle, but you may want to try and decide for yourself.

doesn't work as expected. Did not search for time ...
doesn't work as expected. Did not search for time and set itself as an atomic clock. hard to set up, instructions unclear and I don't think it was for this clock. cute clock but not very functional. A PIECE OF JUNK

Good clock has a constant very soft amber backlight.
Good clock big digits on the display. Menu/buttons operation is easy. The only thing is the digital display view angle can be more wide. From wide angles not easy to see.4 stars because of that . Still good clock and I have bought second one.

back lighting
Poor backlighting, it's very dim and difficult to see in the dark.

So many asked "Where did you get that Clock?" Affordable, Accurate, Appealing
Hey, I searched through no less than 150 clocks for the perfect style to replace my wife's small traditional clock that because it started to lose time, she wanted to be replaced. I wanted something that was functional, appealing and high quality at an affordable price. After getting it, it fit the bill perfectly. She loved it, and many people using our bathroom asked, "Where did you get that clock?". We turned it on, set it in the window, and waited just a couple hours for the Sattelite to update the time. You never will lose time again! My Dad used "atomic-based time" since the technology hit the market. It just works! Having worked for the military, that is what drives all devices that need to be in sync with each other.Anyway, if you like how it looks, you will love the quality, heavy material, and simplicity of using this clock. Thanks, Marathon for a great product, delivery, and affordable product.

Works fine as a regular desk clock, just not an atomic one
The atomic function on the clock didn’t work even after setting it by a window where it showed the strongest signal strength all evening and overnight. When I realized in the morning that it hadn’t synced, I tried looking for a signal manually (a few times, too!), but no luck with that either. These methods had previously worked for another Marathon model (slim jumbo wall clock), when it took around 30 minutes to sync (again, after some manual intervention). I’m in the Bay Area, if it helps. Anyway, after all attempts at automatic and manual syncing failed, I was forced to program the clock manually — the process was a bit tedious, if you ask me.Bought it in the white & gold, and it looks and works fine otherwise — as a regular digital desk clock, I mean, just not as an atomic one. And since it was rather cheap, I won’t complain *too* much. I’m actually glad that it’s not constantly backlit (with a bright light), because why would I want my bedroom bathed in neon orange light all night when I’m trying to sleep?! The screen lights up for a few seconds at the touch of a button (on top), so when I do want to tell the time at night, it’s not that complicated a process at all. The numbers are large enough and easy for me to read. The clarity of the numbers does depend on the viewing angle, as some reviewers have mentioned. The size of the clock is appropriate for a desk/alarm clock, IMO. Haven’t used it as an alarm clock, so have no insight to offer in that regard. So, all said and done, my biggest, and *only* grievance is that its absolute *main*, *featured* functionality, is totally non-functional and useless. Now here’s hoping that in order to get my money’s worth, it at least lasts longer than a year! 🤞🏼
