BEWARE!!! Please Read Before Purchasing the Remingtom RM
BEWARE!!! First I worked as a professional landscaper while in college several years ago. (yes I'm an older gentleman) We used Echo, Stihl, and Gravely Commercial Equipment. I shared this tidbit of information so all readers will take my advice on this product. I purchased this Weed Trimmer because of the price and the straight shaft is ideal for getting under shrubs and etc. Weight always seems to be more balanced with a straight shaft engine to trim line head ratio. I also purchased this item because they advertise "easy start".Well that's not true. I read this statement in other reviews and said folks don't know how to crank a weed eater. I must apologize because this trimmer is hard to start if you get it to start. The straight shaft isn't long like standard trimmers which makes it heavy, yes the engine is heavy compared to other brands. The next issue, if you have grass or weeds over 8-10 inches the engine strains and the long weeds and grass wind around the head and shaft until the trimmer shuts off or stops turning. I read one review where a customer cut a pvc pipe and place it around the shaft to prevent this from happening. I refuse to buy something new and have to rig it to make it work. I paid for a new, working trimmer and got a piece of junk. Thank God I was within my grace period for returns. I owned a Straight Shaft Weed Eater Featherlite. I bought it refurbished from Northern Tools and I swear it has lasted 11 years without winterizing and replacing a spark plug that really didn't need it but after 5 years I said I better replace it. It still starts but won't stay running. I will purchase another and sell my old one. It's very light and starts on the 2nd no more that 3rd pull. The trim line head to engine ratio provides a perfect balance so yo don't feel as if your toting a car battery around. No I don't work for Weed Eater. I'm a Executive Nutritional Service Director. I'm the normal man trying to take care of his family and home. Now I have to figure out how I'm going to get this back yard finished because the old lady has been on back about this grass... thanks a lot Remington!!!

it was easy to assemble
I bought this trimmer because of the price. I needed something, because I was waiting on a part for another trimmer. When the Remington RM2560 arrived, it was easy to assemble. I used it nonstop for 5 hours. I have a lot of hillside to cut. The late time of the year means the grass it tough. The trimmer is not as strong as my Husqvarna, but it did the job. The shaft seems shorter than my other trimmer; however, it works great on hillsides. It would not be too good for me for flat level ground due to the shaft length. I found that it caused my back to hurt. I am 5'10" tall. I moved the handle as far up as it would go, but it still didn't help. It may just be the design and tilt of the trimmer head. Also, the fuel tank is smaller than I am used to. I found myself filling it up more often; however, it didn't seem to use more fuel than any other trimmer. There is a good amount of vibration in the handle. It didn't bother me, but others might not care for it. After I was finished, I was satisfied with it.

Great for Light Yard Work
the product starts every time with no issues. the bump head to release string works well no issues that are currently present. handle and length are a bit off its a bit to short for me thats under the maneuverability for me. as for the work it bogs really easily so it is certainly a (light ONLY) u can do a medium job but it might stall out. tried it out in the brush behind my home it didn't do well i got 1 swipe into the tallgrass and it choked out.

Remington weed whacker
It can be a little hard to start, and the manufacturer even seems to tell you that by the fact that there is a "strong choke" (Position 1) and then maybe a "half choke" (Position 2) to get it started. It also takes more time than a true "Weed Eater" brand to warm up. But it does seem to have more power, and throws a .095 (orange) line instead of a .080 (green) line if you have heavier trimming to be done. Overall, I'm pleased with it.

Pull Cord Won't Retract after using it a handful of times
We have used this gas trimmer a handful of times. I am a small female and the pull cord stopped retracting when I tried to start this trimmer after refilling the gas. We have had this trimmer less than 3 months. I am now trying to figure out my options.Sept. 5, 2018- I am increasing this rating from one star to four stars because the manufacturer sent a replacement pull cord assembly at no charge.

Budget without sacrificing
It doesn’t get much better for a weed eater around the house. I read mixed reviews on this product but took the chance anyways because I believe in warranties. I honestly couldn’t be happier for the money I paid. I live in a very warm part of the US and yards need to be done at least once a week in the rainy season. This machine is extremely easy to use easy to set up right out the box and comes with everything you need, including a portioned out pouch of oil for your first tank of mixed gas. Great for around the house and I’ve cut thick weeds and edged the driveway as well.

the one to buy if you are vertically challenged
This is a nice machine as far as 2 cycle engines go. It starts easy. The issue is that it is way to short for me. I am 6' tall. I buy a new weed trimmer each summer and thought I would try this one. a couple problems if you spend a lot of time trimming this will give you a back ache. The main issue is that because it is so short that means wherever you have it, it is close to your body and if it the head is rotating that can be a problem.

Its worth the money
Despite not so good reviews I read before I bought this I took a chance. Glad I did. I'm a landscaper by trade and I use a commercial weedwacker and although this Remington doesn't have as much power as a commercial one .. it's a little spitfire.. no problem starting it . string advances easily. I would recommend it to anyone that asked. I would also recommend getting the straight shaft model (it's the one I bought) it's much easier to use then the curved shaft.
