TCL65" Class 4-Series 4K UHD HDR Roku 2017 Smart TV - 65S405

I was in the market for a new larger TV for my Girlfriends house where I spend 2-3 days a week. Last week I was sitting on her couch and searched for 55 inch TV's on Amazon, and this TCL TV Showed up for only $369 and it was 4k too!! .. I thought that's a great price. So I researched it.The ScreenThe screen does have some black-light bleed along the left side. It's not noticeable unless the screen is displaying a black picture. I was expecting a little bit of it. Given the price of the TV it doesn't bother me and it's not noticeable any other time.It's also pretty reflective. I thought the reflection might be more of a problem than it is. There is a window that the TV is pointing at but the reflection isn't bothering me as much as i thought it would.*update*It's now 1:05pm and the reflection is starting to become more apparent then in the morning when I took those photosSo far i've been very pleased with the Roku OS, it's VERY snappy and fluid. Netflix loads quick and the program guide is both, fluid and attractive. Some User interfaces of some cheap tv's lag alot are aren't very smooth. Hell even my 70 inch LG TV from 2013 isn't very smooth. This Roku TV UI is butter smooth! The Roku OS also has a lot of settings to set as well if you want to dive in. The Roku TV does not recognize NTFS file formats. The Roku Media player does play flies off Fat32 USB but apparently, files with DTS audio have no sound. So I downloaded Emby and installed the Emby on the intel Celeron Nuc I put next to her TV a while back. Now I can access TV shows and movies off a USB hard drive I have plugged into the system. The 4k demo content i downloaded played fine off the fat32 USB stick (they were only 600 - 1gb files) but played like crap over emby, probably due to the low specs of the nuc, all other 1080 content played fine. One neat feature is the Roku Android app which also acts as a remote control. On the app there is also a headphone button. When you press it, the audio on the TV gets muted and audio then starts playing on the smart phone. So the person next to you could wear headphones. Because it runs the Roku OS it also has other Roku features you would expect, such as searching for movies and seeing which services have them.There is a Over the air program guide built into the TV and a nice smooth, attractive and responsive one that at that. The TV also allows you to plug in a USB flash drive allowing you to pause TV for up to 90 mins. When you change channel it also starts a buffer allowing you to also rewind TV. All in all i'm very happy with this cheap 55 inch TV. Compared to what she had this is a night and day difference. I also love the built in Roku OS. A new version came out recently, version 8.0 so the TV is also getting updates which is also nice.

I have only had the TV up for a few hours. And, to tell you the truth, I did not expect to be writing a review of this TV today. I had watch all the videos on TCL setup ratings. but I was nervous about setting up the TV on the day it arrived.My nervousness had two components, our age, and our physical health. My wife is 69 and I am 66. My wife has arthritis and I have bone-on-bone knees. I should add that my wife weighs 120 pounds, and I hit the scales at over 350. The TV was purchased for an upstairs den.I was replacing an old Sony which was on a small TV table. I wanted to stay with the square table, so I decided to purchase a small footprint stand that could hold a 55 inch TV (plus I wanted the swivel option). The stand came yesterday, so after work (early afternoon), I decide to put the stand together (Fitueyes Universal TV Stand). I manage to put the main stand together backwards, but that was easy to correct.The TV arrived, and I was determined to get the driver to bring the TV upstairs to my den. That was the only failure of the day. My wife was less than excited to have a boxed TV in the entryway, and with a little convincing, I got her to help me "push" the TV up the stairs. Now, I admit, the box did not instruct us to push the TV box, but nor did it totally exclude that option. So, with a lot less hassle than expected, we go the TV into the den.I was warned by the wife to NOT try to get the old Sony off the the table. The Sony is very heavy and I can only stand using a cane. She was concerned about my control over the Sony. I agreed, but did not feel her warning precluded me from putting the stand hangers on the back of the TV.With a little coaxing, I was able to get my wife to help me pull the TV out of the box. We were amazed at how easy it was for two oldies like us to pull the TV out. We were able to leave the TV in the proper upright position to screw the hangers unto the back. So, there we were, looking at the old Sony, with this beautiful new TV just setting there, doing nothing.We had an early dinner, during which we decide to at least attempt to move the Sony. It was tough, but we did move it. We pushed it out to the way, and my wife had a few choice words about my heritage.Now, the time had come to test out the stand, and my job of putting it together (of course, there was 15 minutes of dusting EVERYTHING in my den first). We hoisted the TV up, and it went on perfectly. The locking screws were a little hard to get to, but that was due to where we positioned the TV.We plugged in the HDMI from the X1 box, and the electric cord, and we were up and running. I had never used Roku before, but I had watched a lot of videos. While the LG does have nice navigation for applications, Roku seems to be a wonderful choice for the novice (and the old folks, like us)The TV was turned on, and I made no adjustments. This could be due to the incredible difference between the new TCL and the old Sony, or because I am a TV tuner novice. But the picture looked great, straight out of the box. We started with the Roku setup, and got the cable box and internet going. For now, it is wireless, but I may change it over to wired tomorrow.Once setup was done, we went to the Roku channels (we had never seen them before - nice variety). We then went to Netflix, YouTube, etc.) I also download the Roku phone app since most of my late night viewing will be using sound thru my phone into my Bluetooth/wired headphones.Finally, we set up the cable and wand. The wand does not seem to replace the TCL wand, but that could be my lack of investigation on the subject.At this point, I thought we were done. The TV is up and running and we have few issues related to the TV or stand. But then it happened. By wife looked at the TV in my den, looked at the TV in her office, looked at the TV in my den again and proclaimed, "We need to switch TV's, or you need to place another order tonight.".I love my wife, but the heck if I am going to give up the first new TV I have had in over 20 years. I always get the hand-me-downs, always. So, since she does stream higher quality content than I do, I think I will order a TCL 6 series (65") and I will let her review that TV.In summary, for the price, I would rate the TCL 55" 405 perfect for my situation. And, I must also highly rate the TV stand I purchased (the swivel is fantastic, and the wide legs included with the TV were not practical for my situation). Both were very easy to assemble/setup, even for older folks like us.

Es un excelente Smart TV.El sistema Roku integrado es ideal. No es exageradamente tapdio, no es ultra responsivo, está en su punto. Llevo utilizando la TV varios meses y ya la he probado con diferentes configuraciones. Y en general estoy muy satisfecho.El sistema Roku funciona sin contratiempos, incluye lo esencial y permite el uso de aplicaciones comunes de forma fácil, ágil y eficiente dependiendo de la aplicación.En ese aspectos he probado, Netflix, Prime Video, Plex y Spotify y funcionan a pedir de boca. Algunas aplicaciones como Crunchyroll se sienten arcaicas y lentas pero se debe al desarrollo de la app.Siendo un sistema Roku funciona como de espera. Las configuraciones permiten una amplia gama de opciones desde imagen hasta configuraciones de red, pasando por subtítulos.En esa área mi única queja es que con PrimeVideo no deja quitar el fondo negro de los subtítulos y eso es algo a tener en cuenta. Ya probé todas las configuraciones que pude. Depende de que actualicen la aplicación para corregir el error.Por el resto permite opciones de fuentes y colores hasta un poco de más.En cuanto a imagen. En 4k se ve realmente bien colores brillantes y definidos va a depender enteramente del contenido pero si se aprecian colores, sombras y luces con un excelente detalle.Tiene un modo de escalamiento para contenido no 4K que si hace una diferencia y evita el exceso de distorsión del contenido de menor resolución. Eso permite ver la TV normal de buena manera sin que la imagen sea borrosa o muy poco definida. Sucede lo mismo con las aplicaciones (YouTube, Netflix, etc) cuándo es un contenido de menor resolución la pantalla hace un gran trabajo presentado la imagen sin una deformación muy perceptible.HDR funciona perfecto. Las películas que llegan a tener escenas oscuras se vuelven completamente disfrutables gracias a que se perciben muchos más detalles. Los juegos en HDR se ven geniales y se disfrutan increíblemente. El modo HDR tiene un control de brillo que permite el ajuste ya que puede llegar a ser muy alto en cuartos oscuros. Combinando los modos de imagen con el ajuste de brillo se puede lograr una imagen clara, definid y cómoda.En cuanto a los videojuegos tiene una función que reduce el input lag a costa de un decremento en la calidad de imagen que es un buen detalle para juegos de precisión.El control remoto es bueno, un modelo Roku estándar infrarojo. Tiene una combinación de botones de goma y botones de plástico. Los de goma funcionan como se espera, pero los de plástico tienen un click muy fuerte. Es un control muy ruidoso, sobre todo en la tranquilidad de la noche, puede resultar hasta molesto. Eso y encima después de unos meses de uso a los botones de plástico ya se les borraron los iconos.Pros. - Gran imagen y HDR. - Mínimo Input Lago - Sistema veloz y eficiente. - Amplias configuraciónes y personalización. - Control de imagen avanzado desee Roku App. - Control remoto desde el celular. - Envío de audio al celular desde la App.Contras. - El audio de la TV no es muy bueno. Llega a distorsionar. - El control remoto es excesivamente ruidoso.En general. Es una TV con la que estoy muy satisfecho. Con la que me he divertido configurando y luego viendo mis programas, películas o jugando. Permite un amplio control de imagen y tiene varios detalles que, a mi parecer le agregan valor y a un precio bastante económico.Pienso volver a comprarla.

Llevo usando esta Smart TV por unos días, y ya puedo decir que estoy muy contento con mi compra. Reconozco que tenía mis dudas al ser una marca para mi desconocida hasta la fecha, pero después de leer comentarios y varios reviews positivos me decidí por este modelo por su calidad y su precio, y ahora puedo constatar de primera mano que en efecto es un producto que hace valer el dinero que pagas por él.La calidad de imagen es excelente, los videos en 4K se ven muy bien. He visto comentarios que dicen que no es 4K real porque en la caja pone "4K upscaling", pero en realidad se refiere a que el contenido que es Full HD (1080p) es reescalado a resolución 4K (y además se ve muy bien).El contenido 4K que he probado hasta ahora es de Netflix y YouTube, y la calidad se nota de verdad.Las funciones Smart son muy accesibles y rápidas, las configuraciones son claras e intuitivas, además puedes instalar la aplicación de Roku en un smartphone y acceder a configuraciones más avanzadas y controlar la TV desde ahí.El control remoto es compacto y muy cómodo de usar, tiene lo necesario y en general se siente bien al tacto.El uso más frecuente que le daré a la TV es para videojuegos, hasta ahora solo lo he probado con un PS4 Slim, tenía mis dudas si el contenido al llegar solo a 1080p iba a verse mal o borroso, pero la TV hace un muy buen trabajo al reescalar el contenido y los juegos se ven muy bien (proximamente pienso actualizar a PS4 Pro para sacarle mayor provecho, pero no es algo urgente).La conexión WiFi funciona como debería, es rápida, estable y muy sencilla de configurar, no la he probado aún con una conexión Ethernet.El sonido, como otros mencionan, puede no ser el mejor, y complementarlo con una barra de sonido o home theater mejorará bastante la experiencia, sin embargo las bocinas integradas suenan bastante bien aún a volumen alto. Aproximadamente al volumen 80 en adelante comienza a vibrar mucho en ocasiones, pero yo lo mantengo entre 30 y 60 y suena bastante alto para mi habitación.Claro que al ser un precio bastante bajo para el tipo de televisión que es, carece de algunas características "premium" que ofrecen televisores de otras marcas y más caros, pero a mi parecer la diferencia de precio no justifica dichas funciones.Uno de los puntos débiles que se mencionan acerca de esta TV es que no puede alcanzar un brillo muy alto, en mi caso, al usarla en un cuarto medianamente oscuro no es mayor problema, pero si mucha luz entra en tu habitación este debería ser un aspecto a considerar.Recomiendo mucho este producto, sobre todo si lo encuentras en oferta (estaba en $10800 cuando la compré). Llevo aprox. 1 año con esta pantalla. La compré a un super precio en el buen fin del año 2018. No me arrepiento!Puedo ver los videos de youtube de mi celular en la TV, netflix, amazon prime sin ningún problema. También está la app de Claro video, crunchy roll, etc.Puedo reproducir películas a 4K y la películas se ven muy bien.El audio está decente, se escucha bien sin ser extraordinario, pero es limpio y fuerte. La calidad de video en general es buena.Como verás en las reseñas (yo busqué en internet en foros de expertos) flaquea en los tonos oscuros o negros y otro punto es que la pantalla reflejar mucho la luz del foco que alumbre una habitación dependiendo que tan cerca esté (en mi caso lo comprobé ya que el foco que alumbra mi habitación queda muy cerca de la pantalla) aún así no es molesto y la imagen se ve bien.Jugando con mi X BOX X la calidad es muy buena con los juegos, reproduciendo los a 4K.El HDR no decepcionar.Si la encuentras a un buen precio y no quieres invertir en una TV más cara de las grandes marcas, esta es una buena opción.

Revise mucho este producto en sus especificaciones y reviews antes de adquirirlo y ahora que lo tengo en casa y por fin lo pude probar, estoy mas que satisfecho, me sorprende la facilidad de uso de la interfaz Roku, su control super coqueto me encanta que tenga pocos botones, la calidad de imagen es muy pero muy buena, los colores son muy buenos, y si a alguien le preocupaba si el color negro es realmente negro dejeme decirles que pueden estar tranquilos el color negro se ve muy bien, obvio queda por debajo del nivel de negro de una pantalla OLED pero dentro del mercado de las pantallas LED esta por encima del promedio, si deja en ridiculo a una que otra pantalla que le son el doble de caras, me molesta mucho cuando ves peliculas con barras negras arriba y abajo de la pelicula pero que en realidad la pantalla las hace lucir grises o con fugas de luz, este no es el caso, las barras negras se ven perfectasLa imagen esta correctamente equilibrada y muy poco que calibrar en ese aspecto.La pantalla tiene una construcción solida y de calidad, mucho pero mucho mejor de lo que esperaba, me imaginaba recibir una pantalla de pastico algo corriente y pues no nada que ver, se siente de muy buena calidad.El unico problema que le veo es que siento que le faltó brillo, le falto algo de calidad al HDR de las peliculas, pero lo compensa con el buen HDR que desempeña en videojuegos, pero si analizamos el precio se te olvidan esos detalles,La mejor pantalla que puedes comprar a bajo costo.

Me gusto la pantalla, tiene brillos altos y contrastes, los colores se ven vivos. quizás donde flaquean este tipo de tecnología es aun en los oscuros.En los ajustes de color y volumen tiene lo básico pero lo suficiente, si le pusiera clasificación a su volumen seria como tres estrellas, lo bueno que tiene salida de sonido óptico para conectarle unas buenas bocinas para sacarle ahora si todo el provecho a esta pantalla.El roku es una aplicación facil e intuitiva de usar, te descubre buenos canales aunque muchos son de paga, los de batalla como netflix lo trae por default, prime video y youtube lo instala rápido y fácil.La señal wifi si esta poderosa, lo tengo como a 15 metros del modem en un segundo piso y capta la señal sin problema.El punto débil es el control remoto por los materiales que esta construido y los pocos botones que tiene.Me llego al otro día que lo pedí, hay les pongo 5 estrellas al servicio de paqueteria.
