Awesome knives! They stay very sharp. So glad I ordered them

After about six months, the base of the steak knives began to rust. The "self-sharpening" does not work. The idea is that the sharpener is supposed to sharpen the blades every time you take a blade out. What it does is the exact opposite. Sharpening only works one way. So, every time you put the knife back in, it dulls the blade. I've had the product for a year and a half and only use the steak knives. This is because every other blade is completely dull, and I don't feel like sharpening them myself and having random knives just lay around. So they are forever in the block. Also, the block has been in the same spot the entire time and has a giant crack and dent. If you feel like paying over $100 for eight rusted steak knives, this is the set for you!

I bought this for my wife, and she is EXTREMELY PLEASED with this set. She's been very impressed with the self sharpening feature, and says she loves the way the knifes are ALWAYS sharp. If you buy this set, BE CAREFUL, these are some of the sharpest knives I've ever seen!!

Pros: The set looks very nice, dark wood and trimmed in metal. Good variety of knives including a couple serrated ones. The self sharpening slots are for the non-serrated knives and steak knives. I really like that feature.Cons: I have another Henckels set and these are no nearly as nice. These knives are thinner metal ( can actually bend them with my fingers.. They are also not quite as sharp. They do a decent job on most cutting/chopping, but I think the thinness of the blades makes them not as hefty for cutting something dense like a butternut squash.Overall: a nice set at a decent price, but it didn't quite live up to the Henckels name for me.

french knife never gets or stays sharp

First off I was put off when I saw on the box that they are made in INDIA. The Henckels we have had for over 35 years are German Made and are a much higher quality. These blades are much thinner, and the handles are not finished well. When you rub you hand over the handles you can feel the non-metalic parts are not finished to be flush with the metal of the blade. Very poor workmanship, something you might expect to be made by a guy sitting on the ground next to the road in front of a cardboard shack. They are not the High Quality I know. And expect from Henckels. Not what I expect for the price I paid these are next to junk in my book. Don't Waste your money on them.

Perfect knife set. I would recommend
