Update 2/8/25: came to remove 2 stars after buying 4 new pairs, two of the 8 inch inseam and 2 of the 6 inch, both black mediums. I feel like they are not as great a value as they were last spring. They went to a much thinner material on the 6" inseams in black. I could tell the second that I touched them. I confirmed with both a micrometer and a thread counter. Some of the positive points in my previous reveiw and updates below may no longer apply. On the bright side, the thinner material dries even faster. Also, some 8" inch styles and sizes are being heavily discounted at this time, and the two pair I received one black, one khaki are in the original material. I'll give a star back if the thin material up as well to wear as material I bacame used to.At half the price of real Aftco M01/M01L, I'm gonna have to give these a full five stars, and say they are a pretty great value to me. They don't look quite as good on me, and aren't as durable as Aftco's legendary MO1's, but they are actually better for swimming due to the mesh pockects (dont hold water). Some differences: Much smaller back pockets with zippers instead of buttons. Larger front thigh pockets with velcro instead of buttons. Thin, white mesh inside side pockets instead of Supplex. The white inner pockets show when you have pretty much anything in the pockets weighing over an ounce, or pliers in plier pocket. This makes them look sloppier. I wish they would extend the main material an inch or two deeper before the trasition to the mesh to avoid this. The plier pocket is lined with a Cordura type material, but not it's not as thick as Aftco's. Main material a bit thinner than Aftco's supplex, but still sheds spills. Not as much double reenforcement in high wear/load spots. The stitching thread seems to be a smaller diameter and lower test. Waistband elastic feels cheaper and needs more resistance. The plier lanyard attachment point is different and in the wrong place for use with plier the plier pocket.Sounds like a lot of differences, but the wear, hang, and look on me is really close to the real thangs (except for dang white inner pocket showing when loaded). Ive grabbed them out of the drawer, slipped them on, and not realized that weren't Aftco's for a few minutes until I put a belt on or put something in the pockets.I would encourage Aftco Original Bluewater lovers to try these out if you're less than filthy rich. I believe they may even be more functional for wade/surf fishing over mid-thigh depth. That said, Origionals will definitely outlast these. I expect the pocket closures to die first. Light duty zippers break and velcro wears out. Buttons can be sewn back on.I like them enough that I came to buy a couple more pairs. I'm losing a lot of weight, and don't want to spend the big money until I get to my target weight. The Bassdash "L" fits me a bit looser in the waist than Aftco 36's. Sent a pair of "XL"s back. They fell right off. Fit like me like worn out Aftco 38's or new 40's. There is more give in Bassdash's elastic waistband, which i guess could be a pro or con. I wear a nylon belt with either brand, so doesnt matter too much. Elastic waistbands without belts just slide down my flat backside, and I keep pretty full pockets.

Nice, but a POS zipper
Great Shorts, except the zipper, cheap and had issues. Shorts are great, nice add embroider, cool loops....but that zipper,Not sure I could recommend, only because of the zipper.
