Works beautifully in my '98 BMW
If you're still an owner of a car with a tape deck without bluetooth, this is the easiest solution. For the better part of a decade I used one of the original Monster cassette adapters which worked beautifully. I found it much better than using one of the FM transmitters, which I've never been impressed with. After about 8.5 years of use, my original Monster Car Play adapter bit the dust -- but this was entirely from my abuse -- I wound up fraying the cord near the connector from putting undue strain on it accidentally.Anyways, enter the newer version. This one works identically to my old one, which in my given tape deck is extremely well. Coupled with my iPhone, Spotify Premium, and this tape adapter the old sound system in my late 90's BMW sounds very clear and crisp, without any unexpected amplification or attenuation of anywhere along the frequency spectrum. I've had previous tape deck adapters that somehow managed to erase all the bass, or the treble, or a combination of somewhere in between.A few improvement to this one vs. the old model:- The audio connector is reinforced and no longer at a right angle. I this this is a HUGE improvement, as the only thing on this that has the potential to break is the cord. Given that most of the cord strain occurs at the plug, I think this should go a long way to ameliorate these issues.- The "gears" on this one turn, and are quiet. My old one had gotten noisy. A few reviewers made comments that this thing made a lot of noise while it was turning inside the tape deck. Given that this is essentially just for show, you can crack open the plastic case and take out the little plastic gears -- the sound transfer apparatus has no moving parts and is therefore quiet.Cons:- None to speak of. A few other reviewers have noted problems with their unit. I would guess it is more just an incompatibility between this unit and their car tape decks.Highly recommended, especially for the price.

Works just fine!
I own a near mint condition mid 80s Cadillac with a killer sound system, but only an AM/FM cassette player to play music. I have wanted to upgrade the sound system for a while, but didn't want to ruin the OE aspect of the car (original equipment) and reduce its value. I heard from a friend about these Cassette Adapters and started an exhaustive search through the consumer reviews here on Amazon. Like everybody else, I suppose, I started with the "1 star" reviews, and worked my way up. It seems the major complaint is the fact that the cassette players auto-reverse function chokes on the tapeless cassette and spits it out. My tape deck has an auto-reverse function, so this happened to me about 3 minutes after I first put the adapter in. It seems that the cassette player is designed to grab ahold of the cassette, pull it in, and use pressure on the tape inside the cassette to hold it in. There isn't any tape inside the cassette, so........ All I had to do is press the cassette firmly into the player so it seats completely, and....TaDa! no problems. Every time I put it in, I just give it a little extra push, and there is no problem. If I don't, it chokes on it and spits it out. The next major complaint was that the cassette made a lot of noise when it is in the player. Um.....Cassette players make a lot of noise, always have, always will. That is what the music is for. Unlike CDs, Cassettes have moving plastic parts rubbing against each other. If you do not believe me, put a blank cassette into your player and listen. Well then, Tron (you ask) why did you pick this one? When I got sick and tired of reading reviews, this was the one I ended up on. In my opinion, the are all decent products. They aren't complicated enough to be poorly made. Just a note: If you buy this one, put it into the player "label side" down. I don't know why, but it seats easier in the player for some reason. But it still works "label side" up.

PLEASE READ!
I am a regular amazon customer and I purchase from them often and I also tend to do product reviews for everything I buy, most good and some bad. So to start off, I must mention how strongly I feel about my opinion of this product. The product feature mentions three main points that I just can't help to find bs about:1.) Improved cassette head mechanism for improved sound quality. False This does not produce any more clarity or quality of the sound at all.2.)Spring-loaded cassette head maintains solid contact with your cassette tape player’s head for clear sound. Also false, as soon as I put it in, I noticed that the sound of it was a lot softer than should have been and was not balanced between my car speakers(more sound coming from the right side of my car than the left side). I then attempted to move the cassette adapter while it was fully engaged and then it completely changed the sound; got louder. Moved it again; got softer and more imbalanced. I also live in an area with bumpy roads and every time I hit one the cassette moves and the sound gets thrown off.3.) Dual Balanced conductors delivers more natural audio. Again false, while also first using it, I noticed it produced a more harsh and definitely less natural sound as they claim. This was my second cassette adapter and the first one I bought was a cheaper Philips brand that they carry at Walmart. If you can find it there or on here for cheaper then buy it! It worked perfectly, I just happen to have a dog that chewed up the cable one day. So I figured I would spend a couple more bucks for this "NICE LOOKING ONE" instead. And it's just that, nice looking. No more, no less.
