A nice addition to my test tools...........
I have a DVM that will read temp, but to do that I have to remove the test probes and install the T/C wire and then before I can measure anything else I got to put back the test probes (i.e. a pain in the ..........). Now I don't have to change out my test probes and now I have a nice addition of being able to read 2 different locations without moving the T/C wire, plus having the capability of reading the difference between those 2 T/C inputs. This unit has 2 other features that I don't use that often, but I'm glad they are available and they are: the HOLD button and the switch between C/F readings. There is one thing I wished it had and that is a display back-light, but considering the performance to price ratio of this thing, that's just nit-picking. Bottom line is: I think my money was well spent, its working well, its reasonably accurate and because it was so inexpensive, I would like to find an excuse to buy another one, LOL.

Works great at higher temps...
I use it to monitor the temperature of my coffee roaster. It works, but defaults to Celcius whenever I turn it on. A backlight would be helpful, but not necessary. It seems to record accurate temps (+/- a few degrees). My only complaint is that the temp probes have a thermal coating near the probe tip. It seemed to burn off in higher temps (> 400 degrees). But the probes work and the temperature response is quick.Great value for the price and for what you get.

The very best value for this investment I've ever purchased.
I bought this to service my own AC units for my cars and home, so it will not be used that often. But it does a very good job of telling me when I have charged the units properly by using the superheat or subcooling values. I recommend buying a clip on thermocouple for the coolant lines or making them as I did with a few small plastic squeeze clamps. The investment is very low and it removes all the guess work. What more could I ask for?....Here is a tip, disconnect and flip the 9volt battery over after use to save the battery and eliminate a corrosion problem.(UpDate)I have use this tool many times in the past five or six years and it is still the best for the money I’ve ever seen.

You get what you pay for.
I don't want to be one of those people that missuses a product then gives it a 1 star review. So here is my experience. Out of the box it worked fine. It did need to be calibrated, but the instructions on how to do it are understandable. I could only get it to calibrate in Centigrade, so if you only have a Fahrenheit reference, you will need to convert. The socket to plug the temperature probes into are not polarized enough and allow the +/- to be plugged in reverse polarity. My biggest issue is this device is not robust at all. We bought it for home brewing. It got a little damp and started acting flaky immediately. The power would cycle on and off on it's own and the calibration is way off and can't be manually re-calibrated.I'm going to say for the casual home user looking for something easy to use out of the box, and can take a bit of a licking and keep on ticking, this is not for you. Buy a good digital kitchen thermometer. I am.

Unit DOA
So, when I ordered this on the 10th of January, I did so because it was listed as Amazon Prime. But it did not arrive 2 days. No, it arrived today, the 29th of January, so 19 days after I had ordered. This doesn't bother me too much as I wasn't in a hurry and didn't need it "right now" but 19 days later is a bit surprising.Normally when I order things via Prime it comes in an amazon prime box. This did not. It arrived in a plastic bag and marked as coming from overseas and it was marked as a "Gift" which it was not. I didn't know what I was getting from Singapore so I was surprised at the contents.Unfortunately, because this is DOA and coming from overseas, this is going to be a complete pain to return and will be probably easier and simpler to eat the cost. But this doesn't make me very happy needless to say. I've been a prime member for years and expect better customer service than what I got here.

Can't Beat This for $20
For $20 this thing can't be beat. I'll use it to check refrigerator, freezer and oven temps, so I don't need gnat's ass accuracy - within 1% is fine. Just did a little test. I tried 3 T/Cs - the supplied one and two twisted pairs of that brown spec wire (that's what we call it), one 6" long the other 20" long:T/C Condition Channel A Channel BSupplied Ice Slurry 32.0 32.0Short Twisted Pair " 32.3 32.3Long Twisted Pair " 32.0 32.0Supplied Boiling* 207.3 207.1Short Twisted Pair " no data no dataLong Twisted Pair " 208.2 208.6*I'm at 650ft; boiling should be 210.5 or so F. The rate of reading decline is probably nearly linear, but I have nothing to calibrate it to.Only problem I've seen is you can physically plug those mini-Marlins in backwards (duh). The face is marked for neg and pos so I shouldn't have done that (Duh). Obvious if you know about what the temp should be, but if you have no idea you could get confused. Well, not you specifically, but maybe me (duh).

Needed For Work - Plastics Engineer
I needed an inexpensive temperature meter to use in our plant. The expensive ones keep disappearing or getting abused. I wanted this for my own use and since money is an issue purchased this meter. It works well and is simple. I can plug a sensor in backwards as the TC connections are both the same size. I feel I got a good value for my dollar and would recommend it.

Eh...
I bought this to replace the Omega version that I had and I still use the Omega version. yes it has two temperature probes however it takes for ever to stabilize temps and even then, I doubt they're accurate. Feels chincy and its already not working after a few weeks. My advice, thermometers are something u want to get a good quality version of...this is not it. It worked when I got it...now, I don't even wanna bother fixing it.*UPDATE* BROKEN...Donating the money you would have spent on this device to a charity you have no interest in would still be a wiser investment.

Works great for my kiln
I made an electric kiln for melting bronze and for test firing ceramics. I use this to monitor my cooling cycle. Works great. I'm measuring the kiln temperature, not the metal temperature, but it seems to work fine. Great price!

K-Type Thermocouple
Solid and affordable product. My only dislike is the case that doubles as the stand. Overall, though, the price is hard to beat for a thermocouple.

Ok, after some work.
The thermometer itself seems to work well enough, but both thermocouples came wired backwards. (+ and - switched) This causes the unit to read decreasing temperatures instead of increasing ones. After rewiring, they seem to work ok, but I think the accuracy is still suspect. Plan on buying another thermocouple instead of using the included ones.

Regret my purchase
I'm disappointed; the item is cheaply made and doesn't work. All I want it to do is measure the internal temperature of my bee hive (around 20degrees) BUT I have to wait at least 5 minutes for the unit to give me the value I expect BUT NOPE the unit will not stabilize and instead values keep dropping ... I've waited as long as 20 minutes and still the temperature keeps dropping (the readings are not logical and I'm freezing waiting for the unit to settle on a value)...essentially an unreliable piece of junk.
