A GLORIOUS RIDE TO INTERNATIONAL GOODWILL EMBASSADOR
Even an ardent fan--and is there any other kind for this beauty?--can learn new details of Audrey Hepburn's life in Barry Paris's bio, generally accepted as the best on the market. She is a converation stopper and starter ("What do you like about Audrey?" stops other chatter at the bar or dinner table. "I think her best film is 'Two for the Road.' Don't you agree?" And that's a starter.Paris gives the details about 'Two for the Road' and other studio moments, including off-stage romances. He also provides insight into Audrey's married life and her desire for simplicity, sincerity, and seclusion. There are set pieces about the creation of 'My Fair Lady' and the shooting of 'Breakfast at Tiffany's,' and Audrey's encounter with the author of 'Gigi.' There are many fine and classic photos of this oh-so-photographic woman.

Mother Theresa in couture
The title above from the book says it all perfectly.Audrey Hepburn has always been a favorite actress of mine. While I had read many aspects of her life I think this book brings her to life quite beautifully without being gushy and over the top. What this book shows us is just how very down to earth, Audrey was, it is wonderful to find a celebrity who has her priorities of family and friends right where they should be, up front and centre. It was wonderful to read that for the last 15 years of her life she had a man who truly loved and appreciated her for the exceptional human being that she was.

Not on Kindle, please, not without photos
I liked the book very much. It's entertaining and informative because it differs in some facts from other Hepburn sources. But I ended up ordering an extra paperback because someone thought it was not necessary to include photos in the Kindle edition. For a subject like Audrey Hepburn, photos are necessary, especially since the text continually refers to the accompanying pictures. I've had other Kindle books with illustrations and photos included, and there was no reason to leave them out in this case. I like Kindle because I have too many books and not much room for more. I generally don't save novels, but most of my and my husband's books are non-fiction, history and biography, and we like to save them to read again and use as references. In this case we ended up with the Kindle edition AND a paperback one. BTW, there was no mention on the web page of photos in the paperback edition before I ordered it. I just kept my fingers crossed and was happy to finally see the pictures mentioned in this book.

Excellent book, enjoyable reading!
I usually don't read a lot of books but I find that reading this book about Audrey Hepburn to be so enjoyable that I can't put it down. The subject matter has a lot to do with it, but nevertheless, I think it is an excellent book and I highly recommend it. The book includes nearly 60 black and white photos.

If you want a GOOD read on Audrey, get this book
This is by far the best well-rounded biography on Audrey Hepburn. I've read several others and this is the most accurate, not overly sugar coated or too raw. Barry Paris does a fantastic job of capturing the life that was Audrey Hepburn, the good and the sad. She was a great lady who was classy until the end, despite challenges in her life. Paris doesn't peg Audrey as a victim, but as a hero in her own light. If you want a GOOD read on Audrey Hepburn, get this book.

Such a lovely read
Such a lovely read. The book is filled with intimate details of her life and loves. I learned one thing...Audry Hepburn was Jackie Kennedy Onassis idol. The simple fashion that is Dior inspired, the huge sunglasses, the demure feminine style. It is so evident to me as I just finished a book on Jackie. Also...Roman Holiday was JFK's favorite movie and Audry his favorite actress. She combines sex appeal with intelligence. Something Jackie aspired to. She is one of a kind and totally human and lovable in this great book. I loved it.
