The best we've found and very different from American brands
My wife is Russian and devoted to buckwheat. After her arrival, we tried all the American brands, which are somewhat slimy and taste like cardboard. This stuff is great, I am not as devoted to it as my wife, but it does have a nice toasty taste that is a pleasant alternative to rice. I can't even guess how much we've eaten over the years, but she always insist on this brand.

The best
This are real European buckwheat groats. The real deal! Roasted to perfection, nutty in flavor and doesn’t fall apart when cooked. Every grain remains separate , whole and fluffy after cooking. I lightly coat the groats with melted butter in a pan, then add water and cook like rice till water is absorbed. Fluff with a fork and enjoy. My favorite breakfast cereal with milk or as a side with meat or mushrooms for dinner. Nutritious, the aroma is heavenly and you get a lot in the big size bag.

Chipped my tooth
Every time I made this buckwheat I bit into at least one kernel sized rock or something really hard, one piece ended up chipping my tooth so I threw the rest out.

good buy
Groats are hard to find locally. These arrived quickly. It is a large package for the money and they taste fresh and crunchy.

Tasted good
I revised my rating. I was told that the date on the package is most likely the production date, not the expiration date. The quality and taste ware very good.

Great nutty flavor
This stuff is a great grain alternative. I am no longer able to eat wheat, rice or corn so I am always on the lookout for something filling to be used as a grain alternative. This buckwheat is great for that. The price is right too which is helpful. I think this has a nutty flavor to it and it tastes good with butter as well as with a little bit of brown sugar. The package is all in another language so you cant read it. I do find it VERY difficult to open without it going flying everywhere so I definitely recommend using the scissors on this one, unless you want to be sweeping up buckwheat forever! Its easy to cook and if you do an internet search you can find many things you can make with it! Very versatile food.

Great quality
Buckwheat is a good source of vitamins and fibers. This is one of my favorite dishes. The product is fresh and clean. The country of origin is Russia. Wish I could buy buckwheat at a local grocery store like Aldi or Publix. I was buying it in a Russian grocery store until I found it on Amazon. Would recommend.
