Faithfull HSS Full Length Woodturning Chisel - 20mm Roughing Out Gouge, Blade Length 160mm, Total Length 410mm - FSC Certified Wood Handle

I wasn't sure whether to order one of these or not because I know its sounds silly but it seemed too cheap, especially when I compare it to the price I have paid for a Robert Sorby in the past. Anyway the other reviews are right, this is great roughing gouge, it feels nice to handle when turning and its very solid, the handle is nicely finished but again not to sorby levels but it does the same job. I would recommend this without question for this price, I have since ordered an Axminster and I have to say that although they have the more traditional handles they are not finished to he level of this Faithful Chisel. I have since order two more Faithful chisels from Amazon because I believe you can't go wrong at these reasonable prices.

Sharped to what i needed Tool been brilliant really good value would definitely buy again

The 20mm roughing gouge is my third Faithfull woodturning tool. As with my other two, it is a sturdy practical hss adequate tool of not the best quality steel nor manufacture. Expect to spend a little time sharpening the new tool as the grind is quite rough and not fit for immediate use and they need sharpening more frequently but not excessively so. The feel and balance of the gouge is good and pleasant to handle but does not give the elation that those expensive tools give. That said it is a third of the price so I am more than happy with it, especially for rough work.

I have just a few Faithfull tools as I really like using top grade tools, but sometimes the cost can not be justified and then this make fulfils my needs. The finish and feel may not be quite the same, but the practical use is more than adequate. This particular spindle roughing gouge is no exception and is a massive improvement over my worn out cast steel gouge and does the job very well. I do not as yet know how long it will be before I have to regrind it as I use a hand held diamond sharpener quite frequently, but I do not expect that it will be too soon.

I decided to treat myself to a new roughing gouge and was not disappointed when I tried it out. It is well finished, good quality and certainly great value for money compared to other well named brands.

Great value for money in comparison to others I have seen .The quality of the item is good and is definitely fit for purpose .l took a risk on this purchase after seeing a couple of reviews where the item had snapped , however l can only assume the user was inexperienced when using the item as I have no issues with the strength or durability .

fantastic value for money, this chisel gets used a lot for roughing down prior to detailed turning, it sharpens well and holds a good edge for a reasonable length of time
