Jamie Oliver Pestle and Mortar - Granite stone pestle and mortar set for crushing, grinding and smashing, 14 cm

This is a great pestle and mortar and for the price it was great value for money. I had to send the first one back due to poor packaging from Amazon which damaged the base of the mortar. Both were sent with no protection around the product box - something to think about if you are buying as a gift.As can be expected from a solid granite item it is very heavy, this should make the job of mashing things a lot easier than the wooden one it is replacing. The outside of the mortar and the sides of the pestle are smooth and feel lovely to touch. The inside of the mortar and the bottom of the pestle are rough - providing a good grinding surface. The pestle feels comfortable in the hands and is big enough to allow a user to get plenty of pressure into the grinding movement. When it is being used the mortar sits well on the surface and as it is so heavy it does not slide about. It is also quite squat so it does not tip over and it looks good when not in use.I would say the quality of the mortar and pestle is excellent and should last me years and years.

Unfortunately I didn't receive the Jamie Oliver branded pestle & mortar, as it was out of stock. The seller had sent me another product, and subsequently gave me a partial refund, as a good will gesture. The pestle & mortar I received seems to be of the same quality as the item I originally ordered, very solid and sturdy and made of heavy granite. The weight of it makes it easy to grind and mash herbs, spices and grains etc. for cooking and marinades. The result is tasty and aromatic food. You have to be careful handling the pestle & mortar though, because it is heavy, but that's why it does the job easily, without much effort. I would highly recommend this product for all people who enjoy preparing tasty and flavourful food. Happy days!

I had to return the first one received as the pestle was broken, the return service from Amazon was just great ! I chose to return the defective set ( free of charge if returned within a set time period ), via the local post office using a 'QR Code' which Amazon sent me as part of the returns service using my Amazon account. Hermes Courier Service was also on offer if I chose but I didn't bother with that, and I've just received the replacement within 24 hours ! This one was fine, good quality, weighty, well polished on the outside of the pestle and mortar, and with an unpolished surface for the grinding surfaces. What's not to like ! Thanks Amazon for the return and replacement service, and a fine addition to replace our old worn mortar. I can see many years of service from this solid item. ( Sounds funny doesn't it, calling it solid when the first one I received had a broken pestle ? But I can truly attest to this being solid. I put the damage down to transportation somewhere in transit. Where ? Anyone's guess. ) We're pleased and this will get a lot of use !

This is a sturdy product with a good weight and a must have in the kitchen for anyone that likes to experiment with flavours in their food. You are paying a premium here for the "Jamie Oliver" brand, but it's not adding anything.There are similar quality products out there for a good saving over this.. This is a good product, no question, and my only gripe is the price.

We purchased this years ago and it has been a very good kitchen tool. My wife uses it frequently and is very happy with it . Avery good quality pestle and mortar.

Just the right size for the person who doesn't need to grind or mash large amounts at a time. Nice weight and works well as it should. Cleans well after use with hand wash and seems durable. As a bonus for me it looks good as an ornament on my kitchen working top as it is a near perfect colour match.Overall, it comes a recommended addition to any kitchen.

In my mind there is absolutely no doubt at all that this a 100% granite product and a quality one at that. Mine was polished on the outside and rough on the inside; exactly as I wanted it (and ordered it). Both mortar and pestle are very solid and heavy and work brilliantly. I had absolutely no issues with gray powder/dust when using this possibly because I gave it a proper internal wash before first use. Furthermore It does not absorb smells from garlic etc. provided it is washed and dried properly - and being made from granite it is easy to do this thoroughly. Based on my experiences I fully recommend this product.

I would certainly recommend this product. Delivery was good. Package was perfect. Looks good quality finish. I have seen many other similar products from other sellers on the market but they are rubbish with their finishing. This is awesome. Price wise, I think it was cheap. I bought this some time ago. I am not sure if it is still priced the same. When I bought I think it was definitely less than £15.The bottom of the Pestle and Mortar is one of the important aspects to consider when you buy. This one is completely flat and has no harmful edges. I am very much impressed with this product.I would highly recommend this product.
