CHARNWOOD DC16MT2 Woodturning Lathe Drill Chuck, 16mm Capacity, MT2

I've been shopping on Amazon for years and this is the first review I've ever written.I ordered this drill chuck on Thursday, it arrived Friday and I've been using it today for the first time being Saturday.I was amazed at the quality. It's bigger than I thought but fits my head-stock and tail-stock of my very old Clarke wood lathe perfectly. This is not a cheap drill chuck for DIY, it is of a quality which would be suitable for any professional machine shop, and for the price of a meal.If you are thinking of buying this drill chuck, don't hesitate. You will not be disappointed.Colin

Does what it’s supposed to and seems well made

This is a really well made jacobs chuck with an excellent capacity range and an almost perfect gripping power on the shanks of the drills and cutters that it was designed for

the taper fits well and holds when using on my lathe even when using large drill bits

I bought this for my sister for Christmas. Even she admitted - as she asked for it - that it wasn't a 'normal' present.On Christmas day she sat admiring it, stroking its smooth lines and saying "Can you believe you can buy something this amazing for so little money?"I don't think I can add anything to that. Apparently it's the perfect present for a relative who has become addicted to whittling and wood turning.

I was very pleased with the quality and build considering the low price . I use it on the lathe for drilling out pen blanks . When its fitted in the tail stock it lines up perfectly with the lathe chuck.

I bought this Charnwood DC16MT2 Drill Chuck 16mm Capacity, MT2 to use in my Warco WM250 Tailstock.It fitted easily and accurately. I use it to hold drill bits mainly. Centre drill and normal twist drills, on aluminium, steel, plastics, brass, etc. Up to 10mm so far no problems. Make sure you nip up the chuck tightly.The tang on the end stops the Morse Taper from bottoming out completely, so I have to bring the tailstock out by 10mm first before seating the taper.Very happy with it.

This is a chunky, heavy chuck with a useful maximum drill bit size. I bought a keyed chuck because the Jacob chucks are difficult to tighten properly (even this solid chuck struggled a little with drilling some rock hard laburnum). Overall, please that I had made this purchase.
