Super Shredder!
This shredder is great.Why?- It has a good capacity - you're not emptying it every five minutes;- It shreds in two directions;- It shreds credit cards;- It has a safety switch that needs to be engaged before it'll work - so if you have children, it's safe to leave it out;- It has a thermal cut-out - so if you're having a good old shredding sesh and the machine gets too hot, it'll switch itself off for five minutes. This can be a little annoying but I guess it's better to wait for a while than have a burnt out motor;- It will take about 8 sheets of 80gsm paper in one go;- It has a reverse function so that if your paper does get jammed, you simply 'reverse out' of the problem.- It has a window so you can look at all your lovely shreds. Hmmm....Niggles?The bin is made from Polypropylene and could do with being a bit more rigid. It works fine, but it doesn't feel as good as the rest of the unit.

It Shreds Jim, but not as we know it!!!
It's a Shredder and it shreds paper ... when it wants too? When it works, it's great. You stand there, shredding away happy as Larry (who ever Larry is) until all of a sudden ......... NOTHING!!!It all goes quiet and the RED Light is glowing away at you and you realise it's shut it's self down. Well that's OK, it's just looking after it's self ... right? Well yes it's looking after it's self, but you look down at your stack of shredding [I use mine at home and just fill a bag with bit until I'm ready to shred!] ... and note that you've only been shredding for a few minutes (if that) and have probably only managed to shred a total of about 12 pages of A4!!!Maybe it's just my machine, but it's always been a bit lazy - cutting it's self off after a very short time and now as the years roll on that time is ever decreasing and the wait for it to cool down and allow me to start shredding again seems to be getting longer and longer!!!So whilst Yes it does shred and shred well when it works, please be aware that this particular machine only like very light, light duty ... a few envelops at a time [read day] at most!

Excellent machine
This is my second one. We use it probably beyond what it is designed to withstand and so after a couple of years, the first one expired. However they are good machines and worth the money - especially at the discounted price. They can take a several pages at a time - although I think the 8 pages quoted is a bit much - clearly it would depend on the thickness of the paper too. It does eventually cut out and have to cool down (say after five minutes constant shredding) - but as I said at the beginning, we use it hard.

High-quality home-shredder
I ordered this shredder for my mum, who is gradually working her way through around 30-years worth of financial statements - or at least so it seems! To date, I have taken her occasional items of paperwork away and shredded them "industrially" on a shredder I have access to in the workplace. However, now she has stepped up a gear and we are not talking about the odd sheet of A4, so she was keen to get hold of a decent cross-cut shredder of her own so she could shred "at will"! And now she has it!She's already spent some time shredding away and this thing looks like it is pretty robust. There is no flimsy receptacle like I have seen with other devices, and the shredder top-part has quite a weight to it, suggesting some pretty robust machinery inside. I have tried it myself with a few sheets and it easily seems up to the mark. Why do I claim it is a good "home" shredder? Well, having used a few commercial shredders which reduce paperwork to a fine cross-cut spaghetti, this one is not quite up to that standard. However, anyone who thinks they can recover something useful from the shredding output of this machine would have to have the patience of an angel and a very long time! The strips are pretty slim and then cross-cut every 20-30 mm or so: easily fine enough for all but "Govenment classified information" - just in case you happen to have some of that lying around.All-in-all, a high quality product at a very good price topped off by Amazon's 95+% faultless delivery service!

Great
I have only had this a few days and it's awesome compared to the old one (staples own brand). There are 2 problems I did find with it:1) The container for the shredded paper is out of shape so the top never sat on it correctly but after a little persuasion it did allow the top on how it should be2) The paper never fell to the front meaning the collection was directly under the cutter therefore it needed emptying far more often than it should have done. The top is quite heavy for a disabled person like myself so the emptying more often than it needed caused me some discomfort.--Delivery of this product from Amazon was through Yodel and so the item was delivered in the manufacturers flimsy box meaning it looked beaten up before it got to me. If buying from a shop you wouldn't have experienced this but maybe it was the Yodel handling that made the paper container out of shape. I won't get started on the hopeless Yodel delivery service where it couldn't be delivered due to the van broke down and other lies I was told. Let's just say my name will be added to: http://www.amazon.epetitions.net/signatures.php?petition_id=2270
