Easy to use
This is my first TENS machine and I wanted something that was going to be easy to use. The preset programmes are ideal for me as I can have a quick flick through the small guide book to see where electrodes should be placed, then plug and go.I've had good success with both back pain/sciatica and with neck/shoulder tensions and migraines - although for both I tried a couple of different electrode positions before I found the right combinations for me (as the booklet says may be the case). I've also used it for period pain/cramps and tried it with IBS cramps too though not experimented as much with these it did help. I use it mainly for accute attacks as I take medication which keep chronic pain mostly under control. Sometimes the chronic pain breaks through or for some reason an accute attack of pain is triggered and for me these are the times when it's very useful. It comes with a case (a bit like a wash bag but clear) to keep everything in which is I admit a little bit naff and the catch broke on it on day one - but it's enough to keep everything together and tidy anyway. The booklet fits in here too so I can easily refer to the diagrams of electrode positioning and consult the quick chart of what the preset programmes are best to use for. In mine I can keep the TENS, leads, spare electrodes, booklet, Pre-TENS Skin Preparation bottle and surgical tape with dispenser.I've dabbled with most of the preset programmes and it's great for me to be able to try different things without needing to figure out positions on dials. However if you're looking for a specific frequency or rate or whatever then you may want to try a different machine as this one will dictate that with the presets. The wires supplied are long enough for my needs including when I've had one set of electrodes on the back of my thigh/lower back and another on my shoulders/neck. The belt clip is enough to go on the waistband of my trousers but if I bend over it does tend to fall off. But the machine is just about small enough to go in a pocket too.The electrodes supplied with the machine are very good and lasted for a few uses for me. I did take care of them but I tend to only get a few uses at most maybe because of my disability i can't shower and exfoliate as much as I would like to so they have to do a tougher job.If you want something that needs limited understanding of TENS positioning and technology this is a good unit as the preset programmes mean you can just start using it straight away. The diagrams of electrode positioning cover quite a lot of things but you may want to buy or book or consult some online maps to find even more types of pain and discomfort that it can help.I'm very pleased with it and it has definately helped me.

Great before and after sport
Super tens unit! I received today this little machine. I love to swim a lot, and usually, after 40 - 50 minutes of swimming I need to make a little stop due to a cramp below my left foot. I used it for ten minutes placing the electrodes below my soles and running it in C and F mode at moderate and gentle level (below level 12) before going to swim and this solved my problem! No cramps even after 2 hours of swimming! Also, I tested it for a knee pain at moderate level (a little pinched meniscus) and this jewel solved again my problem. I love the deep, strong but pleasant massage in F mode. This unit is powerful, but even using at level just below an uncomfortable intensity the feel is pleasant and never painful. I love programs C, F that I tested in a deep and strong legs massage (level 30 in mode F, level 20 in mode C) after my sport activity. If you can resist to the sensation of electrical pulses for about five minutes it takes away all the tiredness in the legs! A lot of endorphins released, I felt great! I cannot go over these levels, so I thinks that this item is sufficient powerful for all problems. The 60 steps intensity regulation allowed me to use it always at a still comfortable level.NEW: Today I used it for a neck pain (cervical pain), 20 minutes program C and 20 minutes program G at low level (between 8 and 12), enough strong but fully confortable. 100% successful! This item has nice programs: pleasant massages. So I decided to program the timer machine for 20 minutes in mode C, then I close my eyes and enjoyed the electric stimulation in full relax in two yoga pose (savasana and child pose, 10 minutes each). Same for program G. Very effective and very pleasant. After two days I fell in love with this little unit! Yoga + Swim + Tens = Relax + Feel Good (endorpines) + Stop pain!Of course, always ask to a doctor before using it. This is only my need and feel, maybe you need other usage and other programs

Very Impressed!
I decided to get one of these, almost as a 'what the heck' moment in the search for something to help easy the pain of long term back problems I've been having - spinal degeneration and a ruptured disc.I've done the rounds of all the painkillers and none of them have really worked, so I figured I didn't have much to lose with this as it was a very decent price. Have to say I'm really impressed with it and can honestly say that does significantly ease the pain I've been having. I've no idea if it's the effect of the machine, or simply all in the mind, but I really don't care. I know when hooked up to this thing for a while, the continual discomfort I have becomes barely noticable. The machine does feel a little 'plasticy' but it's simple to use and the instruction book explains everything you need to know to work it and the recommended placement for the electrodes. There are two sets included with it and they seem pretty robust so should last a while.I really can recommend giving this machine a go if you've found nothing else helps with pain relief. As said, I've no idea if it's because of what it does or if it's all in the mind, but all I know is the pain I've had constantly for 18 months is massively reduced by hooking myself up to this little machine so I couldn't be happier with it!

Review of the product quality not it's actual intended use
Before I start I bought this for a chronic shoulder pain having used a similar machine in the past, it's works fantastic and dulls the pain within no time and does last for a while after shut off but...the actual pad manufacture quality isn't great, the pads are stuck together instead of being a clip design so that if you tug just a little too hard or for example the wire catches on your cloth the wire can pull straight through the pad making it useless. In the past I have had clip together clips/wires so I think Tens needs to upgrade this as you are paying plenty for the product.I would recommend this though as it does exactly what it says it will.
