I read the reviews for this and similar toppers extensively. So I expected some smell, and maybe the fact the bed could be getting a tad warm. I even allowed for the fact my body might ache initially as it adjusted to the new surface, but I didn't allow for all three to mug me over the course of two nights leaving me with a total of three hours sleep.The good:Arrived in reasonable time, at a decent price. Easily unwrapped, the topper soon filled out leaving no creases, and seemed to be the firmness described by Silentnight. That's as far as I can recommend it - although I accept there are many people out there who have got on with it, and are apparently getting a good night's sleep...The bad:Silentnight state there may be an initial smell which should go over time. Just opening up the package made me seriously doubt that as an acrid, chemical, and frankly offensive odour hit me in the face. I gave the topper a full 14 hours in a vented room before I put the cover on and it basically smelt exactly the same as I lay down ready for an awesome night's sleep - that's irony btw.You sink down slightly into the topper which in itself isn't unpleasant. Initially feeling well supported, I did my best to ignore the fact I was trying to sleep in a chemical factory and actually dropped off for an hour before waking thinking the heating had come on. Most, if not all of the sleep research out there says our bodies should be cooler rather than warmer for optimal sleep. For me, on this topper, that proved to be impossible, and I spent most of my first hellish night feeling as hot as if I were in that mythical place. Night two was no better despite dropping the duvet tog down to 4.5.Sooo. The combo of unpleasant smell, raging heat retention, along with my body disagreeing with how the foam reacted to its shape and two lost night's sleep, has left me reluctantly sending the product back. I really wanted to love going to bed on this topper, but sadly it's the stuff of nightmares for me. Should I have given the topper longer? Maybe, but two night's of lost sleep and the thought of another night of uncomfortable, fragmented sleep surrounded by the miasmic fumes is enough for me.Those of you out there getting the best night's sleep ever on this memory foam, well, I'm envious.The only plus is I've got some time to write this review and look at alternatives seeing as I can't sleep and it's 0400... The search for a topper... continues.

King size 5cm memory foam topper.Unwrapping I found instruction to allow time for the mattress to expand and advice that the odour would eventually go away. Hardly an odour but a noxious stench smelling of wintergreen mixed with volatile substances like camphor and petroleum. For the next 16 hours in my purposely airy heated bedroom I laid the topper on top of my made bed diligently turning it every hour to hopefully reduce the stench. At the end of this period I made the bed encasing the mattress topper within its own fitted cover and covering this again with a fitted terry towelling waterproof mattress protector and a fitted bottom sheet. These coverings seemed to have trapped the odiousness but the duvet cover and pillow slips on which the mattress topper had been resting were now pervaded by the awful smell and had to be washed and dried before use. Having made the bed and it now being quite late I slept without the pillow slips and duvet cover. Just two hours into my nights sleep I awoke engulfed in the ongoing stench with a headache and airways irritation. And the so much wanted and the so much expected sumptuous comfort that I had recently experienced sleeping on a memory foam mattress was not there. The topper was overly firm and was not providing the level of comfort described by the manufacturer as quoted below. “Silentnight Memory Foam Impress TopperThe Impress Memory Foam Mattress Topper by Silentnight has been designed to offer both comfort and support when you are sleeping, helping to give you a better quality sleep.”Apart from a cheap black and white throw away (like a throw away comment as if it didn’t really matter) printed advice sheet found within the packaging there is no advice within their marketing information that you and your home will be pervaded and overcome by a dreadful stench when opening the mattress topper’s packaging and it will live with you until it fades within as yet some unknown time in the future. An additional worry unsaid as yet is what is the smell. Is it just a harmless gas or don’t worry it’s just a bit Noxious. COME ON SILENT NIGHT THIS IS JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

Comes dirty on the middle memory foam (yellow colour). 🤔😕Its cut so badly and didn't fit with bed properly... To fix it I will have to cut it witch is ridiculous to pay almost 70£ and have to fix by myself.. Its no that what I expected.. From,, luxury collection ".

The mattress packing was part torn and the mattress itself was found to be partially damaged.Unfortunately this got noticed only once it was unpacked. This being memory foam cannot be repacked once opened so can’t imagine how to get a replacement for it.

Not really pleased with this topper, depth is under 4cm at one end and the other is 5cm as it should be.

Disappointed with this as it was hard so we put under the mattress to give our ordinary mattress more height.

Absolute rubbish. As soon as we tried to roll it up for storage the foam split both across and lengthways right through the material; it is effectively now shredded and no use to man nor beast. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

Wow. I ordered this mattress topper yesterday and it arrived today. I took it out of the packaging, put it over my mattress and put the bedding on it and I have never been more comfortable. Worth every penny and I'm going to get a double one for each of the upstairs bedrooms. I highly recommend this product
