Direct swap for the same old model. Good Price. Easy to fit
I bought this as a replacement for our old one that was having trouble with the spring returning closed. This was causing the central heating to stay on, regardless of the thermostat / timer settings.If they do get stuck, then you can unscrew the 2 screws holding this unit to the mounting plate (no water will leak anywhere), and rotate the white central shaft on the back with a flathead screwdriver to get the spring to return.This actuator can be removed without needing to drain down the system.I was quoted £260 by our local firm to replace the old actuator with a new one (we had just had a boiler replaced by them, so I wanted this as part of the work they carried out), but this was pushing it a bit so I said i'll do it myself. It was a 10 min job at most to swap over, just swap the wires across (first making sure all the power is off at the circuit breaker) Matching the 5 colours (take a photo before you remove the old wires).This was a good price.The sticker on the back has an expiry date, our old one said Feb 2012, so I guess it had been in a minimum of 10 years.This new one had an expiry date of 2022 (2 years away), I am not sure if this is tied to a warranty, or the likely lifespan. I hope to get a lot more life than that.
