Q: How long should the red light flash when trickle charging a flat car battery? So far mines been flashing for 4 hrs.

The trickle charger charges at about 0.5 amp per hour so it would take 90 hours for a 45 amp hour battery, if the battery was fully discharged. The flashing green light comes on when the battery is 80% charged and is steady green when fully charged. The charger is not designed to charge a battery but to maintain it at full charge when it is not being charged by the vehicle engine (for example if standing for long periods). The battery should ideally be charged by a conventional charger first.I hope this helps.

Q: I leave my car garaged for up to 3 months without use. Can i leave this charger permanently on to maintain the battery?

Yes,that is what it is designed for,when the voltage drops,the charger will sense the drop and automatically switch to a trickle charge,that way it doesn't overcharge the battery and become a fire hazard.

CHECK the fuse in the line by the crocodile clip,fixed mine as fuse can be blown and red light will carry on flashing
