I was dubious about it's capabilities, I was wrong.
Such a good buy. This thing heats with delicacy and that has to be its best feature. I can heat butter to soft on the lowest setting, and pasta sauces on the low medium are never boiled at the edges. It's been nothing but joy so far.The upsides FAR outweigh any perceived downsides. When I set it to medium, it cooks at 400W constantly. Same with defrost, it cooks at 200W constant, so food defrosts more evenly and quicker than a normal microwave. That is the beauty of it, instead of cooking at 800W for ten seconds, then turning off for 50 seconds, this cooks at 140W for the whole minute, so food gets more evenly heated. It's most noticeable reheating pasta sauces and pre-cooked meals, I can set it to 400W and leave it an extra minute and it heats the whole thing evenly throughout, instead of crisping the sides. So, it's an inverter microwave, and that put me off to start with, as it only has 5 heating settings. That's all it needs though. The facts are that it doesn't just heat like the old microwaves used to, and there is hardly any sound when cooking. When I warm up my pasta sauces nothing explodes in there so no spray of sauce pinging off the lid in there !If you are used to an old style 800W microwave, get a 1200W+ inverter one, at 1000W this is not as quick as my old 800W, but it is much better. Cold coffe or tea heats in roughly the same time, but simmering and heating large volumes of liquid takes a little longer. It means I can heat a bowl of peas and after doing four in there, I only saw one pea that had fallen apart.EDIT: Wow, Now I'm four months in, I was stood there the other day watching my scrambled eggs in the microwave and realised I would absolutely HATE having to go back to the old style of ovens.I cook two eggs on 1000 for the first minute, give a quick whisk, then another 1:30 on 600 and they are cooked beautifully.I make some toast, the butter is out of the fridge, I cut a thin slice, slap the toast in the microwave on 400, and after 15 seconds the butter is just melting and so easy to spread. The best thing, is the way it cooks constantly at 1000/600/400 etc. You can watch it simmering stuff wiuthout goin ON OFF ON OFF ON OFF ON OFF and boiling, waiting, boiling, waiting.Yep, no way am I ever going back.

TICKS ALL THE BOXES
Bought to replace a cheap small microwave that was leaving rings of uncooked area when doing poppadoms. I love the fact that on reduced power it actually runs continually. Previous units have blasted everything at full power reducing the "power on" periods as you set for lower heat. Also the buttons are very straight forward and offer all the options you need. Much prefer these buttons to touch panels with poor marking.

Decent microwave with one issue
We've had Panasonic microwaves for years now and they've all been decent. Our last one needed replacing after a water leak above the kitchen caused a flood which rendered the microwave unsafe to use, so it was time to get a new one, and we plumped for Panasonic again. This is a nice looking microwave and has a decent internal capacity. You program the timer via a dial which is really easy to use, and it pops in and out so doesn't always stand proud of the front of the microwave. Each time you use it you have to press a button to set the power level, twiddle the dial, then press Start, and that's about it. In use it is much quieter than our old one, although the turntable does squeak and creak quite a bit.The only issue is that unlike any other microwave we've had in the past, it generates an awful lot of condensation, especially when you're cooking something like a baked potato - while it is cooking there are drips of water on the worktop under the door, and when you open it a cloud of steam pours out and the whole interior is wet, so you have to wipe it down after each use. I've never seen a microwave generate condensation like this before. All in all, condensation and creaky turntable aside, it's a nice microwave.

Lightweight (a consideration), can see the food cooking, and it cooks quicker during a shorter time
Our old Bosch microwave had been burning food- literally lighting it on fire--which is impressive given the food was still cold in parts after that... Fed up with it and then thinking it might actually burn our house down, we decided to try a different brand. Also, the Bosch beeped beyond what was humanly acceptable when it finished, which incidentally it kept sounding like it was cooking even after the time was up...faulty? Part of the design? No idea but enough was enough.I've always had good experience with Sharp microwaves but they are just so darn ugly, hence Panasonic was our next option. This model looked pretty sleek. I liked that it has a cleaning option and am looking forward to trying it to see if it is a gimmick or not.So the positives about this microwave:Even cooking. I mean the Bosch is laughable by comparison. It cooks faster in a short amount of time.Stylish. It's grey on the inside, I really like this. I like the finish of it overall, but the only part that's stainless steel is the door and the operations panel. Perhaps a good thing since stainless can be difficult to clean. The not so positives:Yes it's lightweight, so much so the thing slides when you press the button. Not a problem if you have a flat wall, but it's a problem if you don't, like ours; so a piece of rubber/silicon will stop it.The inner roof isn't flat. So whether that becomes a pain to clean remains to be seen, depends how good self clean feature is.We've gotten used to its 3 step process that is: click the wattage buttons, turn the knob and hit start but some will prefer less steps to completion.I had hoped for a flatbed but just couldn't hit add to cart on the ugly Sharp microwave; shallow I know.So I'm not sure I'm telling you anything new, but we like it and what's more, it doesn't beep more than 5 beeps at the end of cooking; that alone is worth it.
