I bought these because I have some R80 bulbs on an old 3 gang dimmer switch that I didn't want to have to change,At the risk of being nerdy "old" dimmer switches are "leading edge switching" whereas newer ones designed for LEDs are "trailing edge switching". This affects the wave-form the bulb receives and some LEDs won't work with the older type, however these ones seem to.I can't comment on their longevity since they haven't been in there very long, but brightness (800 lumens) is excellent and colour temperature (3000 kelvin) strikes just the right balance between warmth and brightness.

Does what it says, sort of! Well made and sturdy. However, I have three eyeball spots in my kitchen which are switched from a touch-plate dimmer switch which has served me well for nigh on twenty years. The introduction of led lamps throughout my property has not been without problems. Most of the older dimmers are "leading edge", its technical but means they struggle to work when you introduce them to led lamps. I have had to buy a new dimmer switch to stop the strobe flashing which these did. It has to do with the reduced wattage of led bulbs. I solved the problem temporarily by using two of these alongside one of the original R80's but they still had an annoying buzz which apparently can only be resolved by purchasing an led compatible dimmer switch. Perhaps the description of the product could have alluded to this hence my 4 star instead of 5. When I get my new dimmer switch installed they should be fine. If not I'll be having something to say about that. I'm sure they will be ok.

I read some of the reviews here saying that they would work with older dimmers, so I bought 2 packs of 4. In the first half hour, one stopped working and another one exploded with the outer case falling to the floor right beside me. The dimmer wasn't even used.

Read all the reviews and purchased correct dimmer switch. Lights really bright when first installed and worked well - no flicker. However 6 months later and they barely light the room. I have contacted Strictly Lamps but the best they will do is return the bulbs to the manufacturer to be tested. I bought 4 of these light bulbs - all four are in my living room. I don't consider leaving me to replace the bulbs in the meantime as a particularly helpful solution. Suggest if you are going to buy these bulbs that you chose a different supplier.

These provide a great overall spread of light. Better brightness than I was expecting for Wattage.Provides a soft warm light.Dimmability is good and responsive.Bulbs look solid and well built.Would definitely buy this model again.

Good service and item looks fine

I am using a quality Varilight dimmer switch specifically to drive LED lamps. One of the four lamps failed immediately (flickered constantly). The seller replaced it. Two years on, a second lamp has completely failed. The seller has refused to replace it, saying that it is out of the two year warranty. This is supposedly a quality product and isn't cheap. The lamps are rated for 20,000 hours. They haven't been repeatedly switched on and off and have been on for an average of around two hours a day. So I consider two years completely unacceptable. I recommend a different product and a different seller.

I ordered the cool white type and everybody comments on the light intensity. Excellent for our purposes in a kitchen where strong lighting is an advantage. Can't comment on their longevity as too recently purchased.September 2021 update Longevity seems good.August 2022 update. Longevity seems even better!
