F off robbers go next door!!!!
This lock looks and feels solid and is well known by locksmiths as a good lock that you can depend on to work well, with a London bar on the lock body and one on the keep to prevent punch out it has added power? The London bars are coach bolted through the door to be seen from the outside, as it is worth letting the bad guy know before he starts to work on your door! With the U channel and rail to stop jam spreading, this really tells the bad guys to walk on past! the 5 lever mortice and the 3 star Yale euro it means the robbers have to have many skills to get in! The added long throw lock and another euro deadbolt on the top rail I feel safe to leave my house for long periods, Having some homemade exterior warding made from steel hanging around the lock on the top rail makes it harder to use a tension wrench, this makes it harder to pick the lock! Bolting the jam to the frame with 3 inch bolts helps prevent kick in attacks as do hinge bolts, keep everything tight with insulation to reduce any movements in the door too! Outside lights are a good way to put off robbers, stickers on the glass panels can help laminate the glass making it harder to break! The stickers like mine can be of a barking dog, Karate and telling of security marked property to put them off entering in the first place? My dog had a big water bowl beside my front door, often with a big well chewed bone! Image is everything when defending your home, buy some neighbourhood watch sticker even if there is no scheme in place as a robber may not know that? Think about what you do and don't be the one house with less security than the rest, that's the one they're searching for after all? Don't feel scared but don't be afraid to look like you are, have as I do an alarm but have dummy alarm boxes to all sides of the house. A silent alarm sticker costs very little but sews the seeds of doubt that might with other things cause them to walk away from your house before they do damage to it, Imagine you were thinking about robbing your house what would put you off it most and why, most robbers are poorly skilled but some are good so by really testing the good ones you have eliminated the badly skilled ones! Your house is worth it, you may have seen the devastated look on the face of one who has been robbed so don't let your self be one of them?

Excellent heavy duty lock.
This is now on my door. It is a very good weighty lock, it does actually close without having to bang the door so hard you bring the house down like my old one. The inside key operated lock for deadlocking the handle from the inside is smooth and easy. Simply lock it when you go out, close the door and the handle can't be opened from inside until you use the key, no burglar will get out if they've gotten in from the back. When you come home the key will open the door from outside but the inside handle will still remain in the locked position so, once inside when you cose the door again, the handle is still deadlocked until you open it with the key, handy at night if you have glass paneled door. Some people have complained about the back of the handle being hollow...sharp..not a problem in my view..This is a good quality heavy duty lock. As it is an automatic deadlock when you close the door, I no longer have to lock it with the key from outside when I go out to deadlock it.

Read this before ordering
Although a very strong lock, it is let down by its awful written instructions, specifically:1. It doesn’t include a list of supplied parts, so you don’t know if it’s complete or the sizes of the supplied woodscrews.2. It says you need a cross-point screwdriver, but it’s actually a Pozidrive not a Phillips crosspoint. It also says to use a specific size of chisel, but I used two that did the job nicely.3. It doesn’t say, but you need brad-pointed twisted wood drills because some holes need shoulders for the recessed screws and door pull to sit in. You also need a 32mm drill to make the larger hole, and I used a twist drill with an augur tip to make it easier than it would have been with a flat bit.4. Most drill sets come in even numbers of millimetres that stop at 10mm, so I had to order the 13mm drill as an extra after reading the instructions, which wasted a few more days.5. #2 says drill the 32mm hole, then #2a says drill the 13mm holes, but I found that the 13mm holes broke into the 32mm hole, so it might have been better doing the smaller holes first.6. The template for the lock mounting plate has a dotted line, but it doesn’t say if you line that up with the edge of the door stile, or 3mm back. I folded it at the line and put it on the edge, which worked for me.7. At #10 it says to line up the arrows, but one arrow is just a small triangular protrusion that is very hard to see, and it appears unnecessary to do it at this stage and it could be done easily on reassembly. The reason it is important is because the plate hides the screw heads when properly installed. What it doesn’t say at #11 is that you will have to turn the door pull key 180° in order to fit the screws if you have done it properly.8. #12 says to fit the mounting plate using the screws provided, but they have provided several sizes of screws and they don’t specify which ones. I initially used the longer screws but I think you needed the shorter (25mm?) ones.9. All in all I fettled the job as it progressed, but it was harder than it ought to have been and took longer because I waited for the 13mm drill. Luckily I already had the 32mm drill I needed but not everyone is as lucky.10. 3 keys would be better, as we need a spare for our external key safe. This is important because it is a deadlock and it could blow shut behind you when you don’t have the key on you!

Rock solid but…
Lovely, big, strong and high security lock but:a) the mechanism is a bit rough. Maybe it will get smoother with use;b) the lever returns to horizontal when catch held back with button and it can be difficult to tell if it is held back especially whenc) the ‘bolt’ projects about 3mm from the main case even when held back by the button. This means the door frame fitting has to be sunk more into the frame otherwise the catch is released upon closing. Not fun if you haven’t got a key!d) the rim cylinder seems a bit cheap
