Couldn't Be Better
I got this scale to weigh food portions to make my dog homemade meals as he has food sensitivities. I absolutely love it and have been using it for over 5 years now. I also use it to weigh letters when I think there's a chance they might be over the limit. The feature I use most is taring, or the ability to put a plate on the scale, tare it out (set to 0) then put something to be weighed on the plate. It's also handy that you can switch the unit from grams to oz, to lbs. I use it many times a day and the buttons have never worn out, even after 5 years. It still works perfectly. Batteries last for months before needing replacement. Haven't a single complaint or criticism!

Pain in the butt
Have had it for a while, love/hate relationship with it. Bought in 2013. I think the problem may lie in the fact that the batteries tend to slip a little and almost always need to be reseated. I would try to tare it and before I could put food on it the numbers would be jumping all over the place, so of course it’s not going to measure anything accurately at this point. Finally writing a review on it because I went a little Office Space on it and now it’s not working. It’s WAY too over priced. Would not recommend. On the hunt for something better.

Excellent speed and accuracy when tested with a nickel
When it arrived, I tested the scale for speed and accuracy using a nickel (a nickel weighs exactly 5 grams). I repeatedly placed it on the scale, and it repeatedly weighed the nickel quickly and accurately. A month later, I pulled it from the cabinet and the battery is still good (so, doesn't seem to be eating battery during storage). Does not switch off right away, so it is easy to pause to do something else and then return to measuring the item accurately.

EatSmart makes great scales
This is my fourth Eat Smart product. I have one of their much fancier food scales, two bathroom scales, and now this one which I use for my hobby and also for postage. EatSmart is a small company with fabulous customer service should you need it. I never imagined I’d by loyal to a scale business, but I am!

Couldn't Be Happier With It!
I actually bought this scale for a different purpose than weighing food. I make and sell wire sculptures so I needed a scale to help weigh out how much wire I was using (useful for pricing purposes) and I also needed a scale so I could weigh packages and buy postage online. After some research, I ended up choosing this scale (I got the silver version for no particular reason). For the price, this scale was a great choice! It offers a variety of measurements (grams, pounds, ounces, and kilograms) compared to similarly priced units that only do one type of measurement. The scale is extremely easy to use as well as you simply press a button to switch between measurements. I also like the tare feature since you can now tare out any holding items (such as a bowl for food) that you don't want to be part of the weight. For anyone who's confused, the tare button is the same as the on/off button, and here's how it works: once you turn it and place an item on the scale, it'll register the weight. Then you press the on/off/tare button to zero out whatever's on there. If you press it again, it'll turn the unit off, but if you leave the unit on and you remove the item, it'll show a negative balance. If you press the tare button again, it'll zero out back to normal again. Also, be aware that if the unit is off and you set something on it and then turn it on, it'll auto-tare out whatever's on there. Don't let that feature confuse you!So, it's pretty convenient and easy to use, but what about sensitivity of the scale itself? Well, I did some testing, and it has a max weight of 11 pounds that it can measure (just like it says on the box), and at the lighter end of the scale, it seems that it can't accurately measure anything below 0.05 of a ounce. That's pretty good for something this versatile and this cheaply priced! It's certainly good enough for weighing wire and packages. As for the physical design of the scale itself, I'd have to say that I like it. It's very sleekly designed to not eat up counter space (although mine stays in a cabinet since I don't use it constantly), and it looks good (I got the silver version). I also like the fact that the top is just a flat round surface so that you can put oversized packages on it easily. As for battery life, I've had it for awhile but I only use it infrequently so I can't say if it eats batteries badly or not. I haven't had to replace them yet myself...So, if you need a good general scale for weighing food or even packages for postage, I'd recommend this product over any of the others I found on amazon. So long as you don't need to weigh things that are heavier than 11 pounds or things that are extremely fine weights, then this scale is the perfect choice for ease of use and pricing. I couldn't be happier with it!

I am in love with my new kitchen scale!
I am watching my weight and needed a scale to accurately weigh my portion size. I read about this scale through a forum on the website I am using to track calories. After reading the positive reviews on Amazon, I decided to purchase it. I had been using an old fashioned dial type scale which seemed very unreliable and I could really only measure in full ounces (even then I wasn't sure if it was correct). With this scale I can measure as little as one gram and it is always the same, like if you take a bowl off and then set it back on the scale, it will measure exactly the same. I also love that you can put a bowl on the scale, reset it to 0 and add the item to the bowl and weigh it (the Tare function). This will also be great for baking when measuring floor, sugar etc. No more measuring cups - just zero out the scale before adding the next ingredient! The only negative thing I have noticed is if you have a wide plate and put it on the scale, you can't see the read out. You can get around that by setting something on the scale first and then put your plate on it and zero out the scale. Just a little inconvenience but not that big of a problem. Overall, I love this scale and Amazon had a great price and free shipping, can't beat it!*Update 3/7/13I had a small issue with the display so I e-mailed the company to see what to do about it. It was still working but I was afraid it might quit on me. I received a response within 30 minutes from the owner of the company. He sent me a new scale that day. I received the new scale in 2 days. This is by far the best customer service I have ever had. I would rate them a 10 if I could. I am still in love with my scale and now I am in love with EatSmart too!!!

Works great
Small, inexpensive, works. A little plasticky but for something sitting on a counter it doesn't matter.
