Q: Please could you tell me how much weight it can bear reliably?

I have a 19" screen laptop on mine and weight doesnt even seem to be a consideration. Was surprised to see the other review saying it was tacky and indicated weight limitation......as I say, weight bearing doesnt seem to be an issue as bamboo is immensely strong and flexible-and as regards tackiness, well, if it does the job???The "unsteady feet" can be sorted all so easily by tightening up quite tight the hinge screw- mine hardly move and I leave it assembled that way to prevent them slackening. Things sliding off is a strange comment imo- the angled part has a foot to stop the laptop sliding off and is no problem at all. If you mean sliding off the level bit at the side...well, ok, but how much do you want to keep on this thing at a time? Its not a miracle worker- and IF you want something else there and you are moving it around some (like on the bed etc) then why not tack on another foot-or even better, get some of that anti slide rubber matting.?? Seemed a bit trivial that one imo- and I remain convinced that this by a long way is the best over bed tray I have used yet- mine is 18 moths old used every day and is as good now as when it came. Have tried 2 of those metal extending legs ones and they are a joke compared to this, and would buy another one without thinking about it- although I am guessing there is absolutely years and years left in the one I have now.

Q: Is the surface smooth - both top and thr legs?

Yes, the surface is smooth and nicely finished. My 7-year-old daughter uses this for her homework and other purposes never complained about sharp objects.

Q: I want to use this as a standing desk, is this possible? I would prop it ontop of a standard desk so I could stand while using it if needed

the table is sturdy, but I do not know his load max. You may find the measures on the site and all other specifications. the height of the legs is changed, I think it is convenient to stand if put on a normal table

Q: Does it fit on a single bed ok

Yes! I have a single bed and it fits fine
