The fourth, and I believe the last in a superb series of books by Paul Shannon. As before each part is dealt with in it's own chapter with black & white well captioned photo's to accompany. There are also sample timetables. The full history and workings of each aspect is gone into in detail and the whole book is extremely well researched. All four of the books are a must have for anyone that has any interest in the Railway Industry,as they cover every part of an extremely interesting Industry during an extremely interesting period for the Railways of Britain.

One of a series of three books by the same author.Paul Shannon has a history of creating accurate,detailed,well written and immensely readable books .He certainly hasn't disappointed with this one .The book is full of relevant information,not only about Railfreight,but social,economic,industrial history and the politics behind them.Even if you are not into railways,there is good reading to be had.I learnt a lot from the book,which I would recommend to anyone.
