EnGenius DURAFON1X Single Line Cordless Phone System range up to 12 floors, 250,000 Sq. Ft. or 3,000 acres

I have spent years trying to find a good phone solution in my home in NYC. I have lived in buildings that have bad cell reception, and poor wiring, combined with walls that prevent WIFI solutions from working smoothly on difference sides of the apartment. This phone, connected to a landline in a location of my apartment with a strong wired connection, has given me crystal clear voice communications from anywhere in the apartment. It also works on different floors of my building, and even down the block. It's amazing. Certainly more pricey than your typical cordless phone, and doesn't have the fancy options of an iPhone. It's basically a no-frills wireless phone WITH A HUGE ADVANTAGE of being able to work perfectly over great distances and through walls that block normal wireless comms. This is how the product was advertised, so, i'm happy. Great product.

After Six months I have to downgrade the listing from 3 stars to 1 Star.1. Durafon Base unit failed for the 2nd Time in 6 months.2. Tech support is impossible to contact by phone.3. Email Support is very slow. 3-5 Days response time.I wish I could find another company that makes reliable long range phone systems.Original Review:Love the range of this phone when the equipment doesn't fail.Cons:Tech support is not available, impossible to talk to anyone. Email Support takes days for response. Just getting an RMA number to return broken equipment takes days.So, if you buy this anything from Engenius, tech support is basically impossible. Returning equipment for repair with take 1-2 months if you're lucky.My main Duaron PRO died after 3 months. Also one of the Handsets developed a buzzing noise after 2 months. Both returned. It took them 3 weeks to return handset.Pros:Extremely long range. I made 8 Miles with external roof antenna.

We have been using these phones at our manufacturing facility since 2009. Our plant is 250,000 square feet and they are the only cordless phone we have found that would work with our internal phone system that had the range we needed. The phones are pretty rugged as my employees drop them and use them a lot.We have a total of 15 of these phones and have had to replace a few of them but considering the abuse we give them the reliability is not too bad.Several phones have broken during the warranty period and there was no problem having Engenius repair them under warranty at no charge. We have also sent in several for repair that were out of warranty and the repair charges were very reasonable.The phone package with the phone and transmitter is pretty expensive in the $500 to $600 dollar range. We have found the transmitters to be virtually unbreakable so when we need to replace a phone we just purchase the phone which is usually in the $300 range.I also recommend running the transmitters on a ups to avoid damage from power surges. These phones are quite expensive but there is nothing out there that works as well as these do.I only give them a rating of 4 as they really are quite expensive.

We are not happy with the Engenius Durafon. Poor quality build and a pain to use! We own two of these phones and one of the phones exhibits awful status. You would believe that in an industrial environment, the Durafon would offer better distance, however that is NOT the case. In theory this could be a great item, however in reality it is not a useful product. I am writing this review after a good year of using the Durafon's.

Purchased 3 of them. We use at our hotels. This phone is great and stands behind it's long range statement. We tested this phone and it worked about 3/4 mile away from the base. We walked almost to the end of the block before any static came in. This has been a great purchase for us. Well worth the money and certainly over a long period of time has saved us not only in we would have replaced a number of cheaper cordless phone by now, but we can communicate anywhere on our property and 5 story hotel(s). Would definitely buy this again and recommend!

Buyer beware! I have been having to replace this phone every year for the past 4 years. This phone barely ranges the distance it is advertised for (820 feet with the expensive external outdoor antenna added last summer).Voice quality is horrible, the phone locks up and needs to be reset often.The SN 920 (discontinued years ago) was a good durable phone that performed as it was advertised to. This one is junk.

Works great in our open field for about anyplace i had tried it. I literally got into my car and started driving about 0.5 mile to the end of our property and i could still use the phone perfectly.I wouldn't call it industrial though cuz the buttons are tiny. If you will be wearing gloves or any industrial protection gear you will have to hit every button to get the one you want.setup isnt well explained in the booklet but it doesnt need to be, its kind of straight forward out of the box

Best cordless phone I have ever owned. It is a bit industrial in its build but it works really well. My old cordless phone (Costco purchased) was nice but dropped the call after moving more than 30 feet from the house. This phone I was able to walk to the end of the block on the phone with no problem (1000ft). Not sure about battery life but the phone itself feels very well built.
