It's Flag Day -- Great Purchase & Highly Recommended !
This has been a great purchase ! Promptly delivered, good value and all parts intact - and a bonus too...included a St George English Flag as well as the expected British Flag - excellent!However... the supplied Instructions for Assembly were amongst the worst I have seen in any product: inaccurately drawn, inaccurately labelled and poorly described, with many crucial steps omitted. Otherwise the Instructions were fine... best thrown away on opening the box.Although it's not exactly the world's most complicated task to put it all together and install the Flagpole correctly and securely (ie) dig a hole, stick it in and Fly The Flag, we were considerably helped by fellow Amazon reviewers' handy hints. Putting those together and adding a few of our own:1. Ignore the supplied Instructions.2. Hole Digging -- 40cm x 40cm (Plan) x 60cm (Depth).Fill 10cm deep with loose sand/stonesShutter the 4 sides with Slate/Wood (optional)3. Have a couple of buckets of fresh water standing by AND .. 2 Bags of the Magic Stuff: Lafarge Postcrete from any big retailer : B&Q, Wicks, Homebase et al. Postcrete sets rock hard in 5-10 mins when water is added to it, so get ready!4. Place the Flagpole's plastic Ground Sleeve centrally into the hole and slide two of the four Pole Sections supplied into the Sleeve to aid getting the Flagpole exactly plumb vertical with a decent spirit level. Recommend that the Sleeve sits on a piece of slate/flat stone to stop crud/concrete getting in at the base of the Sleeve when pouring the Postcrete.Note that two of the four Pole Sections are unique - Section A (with the two Cleat holes pre drilled - fit the Cleat before digging the Hole) goes into the Sleeve with the Cleat at the upper swaged end, Section B and Section C are the same and both swaged at one end so that they can slide into one another and Section D (unswaged) is the top Section to which the Gold Metal Ball and Truck (Pulley) is fitted. Section A slides into the Sleeve, Section B slides onto Section A, Section C onto B and ... Section D onto C = 20ft Flagpole. Lightly oil the swaged sections so that they can slide easily into one another.5. Back to the Hole .. holding the Sleeve and two Sections plumb vertical ask your helpful assistant to pour the water into the Hole to a 1/3rd depth (~20 cms or so). Pour the Postcrete evenly around the Sleeve until no standing water is visible. Add a final 'sprinkle' layer of water to wet the any powdery Postcrete remaining.6. Pack a few (3 or 4 say) loose stones/rocks into the setting Postcrete gloop around the Sleeve. Leave the top of the Sleeve just above the surface of the Postcrete. Keep holding the Sleeve and two Sections (A&B) plumb vertical. Wait 5 mins - the Postcrete will have set completely in just 10 mins...amazing stuff.Tricky bit over...7. Fit the Gold Metal Ball to the Truck and tighten the Lock Nut onto the Ball's Thread inside the Truck. Thread the Rope through the Truck's pulley.8. Join the two rope ends together using a simple Figure-of-Eight knot to form a continuous rope loop. Cut any loose rope ends to ~ 5cms - and tidy up using (say) white insulating tape. On a flat surface spread the Flag out (post gentle ironing?!) and place the knot centrally between the two brass eyelets. Mark the Rope where the Rope is level with each eyelet - this is the position where the Nylon Flag Snaps are fitted. The Snaps are fitted to the Rope simply by passing a short section of the Rope through the Snap hole, loop over and then pull back on itself to secure. Sounds more complicated than it is; basically aiming for Flag Snap/F-of-Eight Knot/Flag Snap so that the Flag hangs on the Rope. Avoid making the Flag part of the continuous Rope Loop - by using a Knot to join the Rope and not the Flag itself means that the Flag will fly correctly at the correct tension.9. Now raise the Flagpole slotting Sections C & D into Sections A & B - the Iwo Jima Moment.10. Fit the Flag to the two Flag Snaps and run it up the Flagpole. [British Flag is fitted of course so that broad White diagonal sits on top of the narrow White diagonal viewed at the eyelet edge. This ensures that the British Flag is not fitted upside down - avoids any Distress!]11. Twist the Pole sections (turning freely of course having pre-oiled them)so that the Truck sits downwind of the predominant wind direction and turn Section A so that the Cleat sits under the Truck on the top of Section D.12. Flag flies freely and squarely above your new plumb vertical Flagpole.13. Pour Tea, Gin or Pimms or all three and enjoy your new handiwork !The Flagpole and Flag is - you won't be surprised to hear - great ! Throughly recommended and good value too.Good Luck !

Very good product indeed
This is the third one of these flagpole sets I have bought. One of the first two did not arrive, and I understand that the seller has changed couriers. A replacement was promptly sent when I complained. The latest flagpole set has arrived promptly and efficiently. As for the actual quality of the product, I cannot praise it too highly. The first two are now erected in my garden here in Romania, one proudly flying the Union Jack and the other the Romanian national flag. They are really really good, and the price is more than fair. Erection was very easy - we just dug a couple of holes in the ground and poured in some concrete, and put the bases into the concrete. Not only is the product well made, but everything you need is there: base, pole, finial, cord, cleat, pulley, and even two flags (UK and England). I have now bought the third one to give to my friend.By the way, I was recommended this product by a colleague in England, who said that it was pretty good quality for him. I concur. It is.

Add colour to your garden
I got this to erect at my gran's property as she had the space for it to be appreciated. Both my gran and uncle love being able to see our lincolnshire flag fly and it really helps to add colour to the garden. It is easy to erect, although it took at least 6 bags of Post Crete to secure the bottom. I used 2 spirit levels to make sure the bottom piece set right. The posts are fairly easy to manage on your own as they are lightweight. Occasionally they stick a bit but are fairly easy to move by twisting etc. the only bad thing about the poles is that being aluminium they have oxidised quite badly and so a dull grey moisture almost has developed especially near the bottom about a metre up. You can wipe it off but can't get rid of it as it's what happens to the aluminium. I've looked into things to prevent this but they are expensive and nothing is permanent. It's only really an issue when lowering or raising flags as it stains them, the rope, (and anything else). The rope supplied isn't the best quality and mine lasted about a year before shedding the top layer since it is nylon based. I have just replaced it with para cord which is stronger and is 5-6mm diameter which fits fine. The plastic clips supplied and method of attaching the flag and keeping it is place is a little awkward and fiddle. I have also just replaced these with cord stops (6mm diameter hole) and have put one at the top to avoid the flag catching on the wheel and ripping (I've had to replace the flag once a year twice now as it rips after catching on the top and then threads itself through the pole and wraps around it- it's not due to the quality of the flag but undoubtedly a sewn flag will last longer than any rips top nylon printed one). I've then put other cord stops above and below the metal eyelets on the flag to stop any vertical movement. This means you have to thread them on in the right sequence when mounting a flag. I have mounted a large 5x3' flag and a smaller 3x2' flag underneath. This set up has been up for a couple of weeks now and shows no degradation. The only other things you could do is mount carabiners on the rope to make attaching/detaching a flag easier but these will still have some movement. Or you could put cord stops in and clips I between to allow flag attachment and this would keep in place although when looking recently e would be more expensive.I have seen loads of these flag poles erected over the last 2 years and they are all of the same quality and brand and should only cost £30.Despite the oxidation issue I would highly recommend this flag pole and it is good value.

Perfect
Not had chance to erect due to snow and rain preventing me from laying the cement to hold it. But assembled it and seems very sturdy. Good build and all parts included, and easy to put together. All lengths are interchangeable so can have it as high or low as needed. Plus, got two flags, Union Jack and England flag.. all in all, extremely happy

Sturdy, easy to assemble, decent value.
Did the job, schools eco-flag flying proudly at entrance. Time will tell re resilience but initial observations look very good!
