Works great
The tool functioned as expected, but the paint broke off after the first nail. That didn’t affect how it worked, I am hopping it doesn’t rust. Time will tell.

It's kind of magnetic
Works well and is good on tight to reach places. Have used it on some minor roof repairs and handy work around the house. Well made and sturdy. Not sure if the magnetic upgrade is worth it. The magnet is about the size of a pen head and sunken into the end. Not very magnetic and barely holds.

Redesign needed
A friend recently asked me for help to re-shingle his roof. Since I had never done one before, from start to finish, I thought it would be a good opportunity to learn something new. My biggest takeaway from that experience was the knowledge that I will never in my lifetime do it again. My knees were shot, my clothes were shot and my toes had a semi permanent bend in them.On the other hand doing an occasional shingle repair or replacement is a different matter. And that’s where the Shingle Removal tool from RAYDOTOL comes in. A small tool that's handy to have on hand, as it can make shingle replacement a little easier. Now I know some people are going to say it’s only one or two shingles, just use a flat pry bar. And yes you can do that, and yes it will work but a tool made specifically for that purpose does offer some advantages. So how exactly does a Shingle Removal tool differ from a flat pry bar? First off it has a more aggressive bend in it that seems to work better in tight spaces for removing nails. But the real advantage would be in the end that holds the nail. It offers a unique way of holding a nail that allows you to set and seat the nail without bending a shingle and possibly splitting it. The only problem with it is it doesn’t really work out all that well.I’ve been testing this product out on some scrap wood and very seldom could I get the nail to go in straight, this is due to the construction of the nail holder having too much slack space in it. And the magnet being too weak to hold the nail firmly in position. Unfortunately this allows the nail to wobble, resulting in a nail not entering the shingle straight. I’ve tried everything I can think of to modify the tool, but nothing ever seemed to work.As far as the paint goes, it’s going to take a beating as you continually pound on the part of the tool used for seating the nail. If you seldom use the tool, then you can touch it up with paint if you want. I'm just going to leave mine with the paint off. By the time this tool even begins to rust out, I will be well beyond the age where I’ll be doing roof work. Some reviewers have stated that you can damage the shingle under the tool if you strike the tool with a hammer too forcefully. And I have to agree that this can happen. But I’ve learned to strike the tool with less force and still have it function as designed without damaging the shingle. If need be I have a thin piece of metal that I can place underneath it as a barrier that seems to work for me as well.So overall I like this tool, I may never use it again and that’s fine with me, but if I do need it, then I know it’s available. I know it sorta works, I know I'm less likely to cause additional damage and if used properly it will outlive me. The issue with the nails going in crooked, is a problem I'm still looking into. For now I’ll just start a nail without the tool then finish it with the tool.

Horrible Horrible
Horrible non efficient product. Does not worked as described. First hot with a hammer knocks all powder coating off which would have led to rust (if I would’ve kept it) it doesn’t drive nail in straight. It destroyed quite a few of my shingles during use. I finally gave up. Way more trouble than it’s worth. Magnet on it doesn’t really work ither. Not easy to use even if it had worked. Returned very day next.
