If its good enough for the RHS.....
Its very difficult to rate this since if the tree does well you will never know if its better than it would have been without it. Hopefully the RHS has done trials under controlled conditions. All that I can say is that I used a similar or identical product on 280 griselinia hedging plants on heavy clay soil 12 years ago and they did very well. It's a bit premature yet, but the latest application on a flamingo willow tree seems to be beneficial. Compared to the cost of some trees its probably a good investment. The small 60g pack that I bought is only sufficient for 1 tree so a larger pack will be more economic for a larger scale planting but be aware that it has a limited shelf life.

Too early to tell but here's hoping my Acers do better.
Too early to tell but easy enough to apply.I'm a fan of Japanese Maples and have recently repotted some which were showing signs of distress. Added this on top at the time and will hopefully see some improvement. The developing awareness that many plant species are symbiotic with mycorrhizal fungi and do better when this is topped up has been a game changer in other industries. Hope it works as well for my Acers.

A Small Pouch with Powerful Potential: Quietly Transformative for New Plantings
I picked up the 60g pouch of AMK® Empathy Rootgrow Mycorrhizal Fungi out of curiosity more than confidence—I've heard good things in gardening circles about the role of mycorrhizal fungi in plant development, but never actually used it before. Now that I have, I can genuinely say it’s earned a permanent place in my gardening toolkit, especially for transplanting or planting anything new.I used this when planting a couple of new shrubs and a climbing rose in my garden. The instructions are straightforward: you sprinkle the granules directly onto the roots or into the planting hole so that the roots are in contact with the fungi. It’s not a miracle product that gives you overnight changes, but the results became apparent over a few weeks—and they were worth the wait. What I noticed most was how quickly the plants seemed to “settle in.” Normally, I expect some transplant shock, drooping, or slow starts—but these plants established themselves faster than usual. The climbing rose started producing fresh growth within two weeks, and the shrubs, which were a bit rootbound in their nursery pots, pushed out new leaves and upright stems within a month. There was a noticeable vigour to them, which I hadn’t expected from such a small and simple application.Because the pouch is only 60g, I used it sparingly and saved it for what I considered my “priority” plants—things I really wanted to take off well. It’s ideal for a small garden or for specific high-care plantings. If you’re planting multiple trees or doing extensive landscaping, you’d likely need a larger size. Still, the convenience of this small pack is hard to beat—it's tidy, easy to store, and doesn't smell or make a mess.I particularly appreciate that this product supports the plants long-term, creating a natural symbiotic relationship in the soil rather than just offering a one-time chemical boost. It aligns nicely with my intention to move toward more sustainable gardening practices, and I feel like I'm supporting the soil ecosystem as much as the plants themselves. While the changes are subtle and take some patience to appreciate, there is a real value in this product. It’s not flashy, but if you care about giving your plants the best start, especially perennials, shrubs, or anything with a long lifespan, this is a brilliant addition. It's one of those quiet workhorses in the garden—easy to overlook but game-changing once you see it in action. I’ll absolutely be using Rootgrow again.

Looks and sounds good - only time will tell!
I got this packet of mycorrhizal fungi because I am currently potting up plants in the Spring and have just taken delivery of two bare root alstroemeria which look like they need a bit of help if they are going to blossom this year!I have heard of this before and since it is the only soil nutrient to be licensed by the RHS, I am reassured that it is top quality!I have planted the alstroemeria into two pots, and used about 25g sprinkled around each of the roots as I was potting them up. Only time will tell if they flourish, and of course it is difficult to say whether they would have flourished without this root powder, but the plants were expensive, so any help I can give them is worth it.The other 10g I have used on a tomato plant which I have potted up. I have also potted up an identical tomato plant without the rootgrow to see if there is a difference. Not a very scientific test, but if there is any difference I will edit the review.I would have given this 5 stars, but I do think that it is a tad expensive at just over £7.
