Pflueger Trion Fishing Reel and Rod Combo

I've fished with a lot of different reels over the past 15 years (the classic snoopy combo, shimano, Mitchell, Daiwa, penn, Abu Garcia, quantum, rhino, shakespeare, etc etc ranging in price from $15-$100+) Then one of my buddies happened to have an extra pflueger president when one of those other brands decided to take a crap on me while we were fishing. And thats all she wrote. What's not to love about pflueger? Great rods and reels at a great price point. I'm not bashing any of the other brands I've tried. They all had their pros and cons, but none put the whole package together like pflueger. Instant anti reverse, smooth reeling action, even smoother drag, and on top of all that they're durable and keep those prior stated qualities for a very long time. That being said I didn't stray away from the president line for years, but I decided to give this combo a try considering it costs about $10 more than a president reel without a rod. I bought this combo and an ultralight combo as well and im impressed. The drag and instant anti reverse are basically identical to the president line. The only difference is that the president is just a little smoother and I'm nit picking. Im also impressed with the rod. Really sensitive tip with enough backbone to set the hook. Bottom line. This rod and reel combo performs flawlessly and for $60.. You shouldn't have even made it this far down the review without adding it to your cart

My 1st Pflueger Spinning Rod. Casts beautifully, Smooth - It's light & balanced!! My husband bought another brand (90$) at Gander Mountain. But after casting with my Pflueger GX7 Spinning Rod, He'll be buying a new Rod next spring. It'll be a Pflueger.The Wife

I have this combo and an ugly stick. The ugly stick is OK but this is so much better. The reel casts like a champ and is smooth. I got no snarls or tangled. Caught two bass and the drag kicked in nicely. Great combo.

I was looking at getting another pflueger president reel when I came across this combo. I was always interested in what the difference was between the trion and the president, and I'm still not too sure on the specifics of what those are.This is a great combo. The only thing I seemed to notice off the bat was that the trion reel is heavier than the president. The rod is great. You don't really notice the weight while fishing with it that much. I'd buy another as long as it holds up in the long run.

I bought the 5' Ultra Light .. and the rod did not have the split grip so not that same rod as in the photo...if you are picky about the grip do not buy.

I'm not a pro bass fisherman, but I spend a good deal of time on the Hudson River where I've had amazing small mouth, southern pike, and large mouth bass on this rig. I love it. The shorter one piece rod allow for controlled casting and my accuracy has improved using this gear. The reel is buttery smooth and up to the task for the fish I noted above. If you like fishing and want to afford snazzy lures, buy this set up and have extra green in your pocket and bronze backs on your line. Do it! you wont regret it.

Item description says it's a 7 bearing system and the tag on the pole says 5 bearing system. Handle is different than in the picture, cork is full length not broken up like in the pic. That being said it's a nice rod and reel but I would've gave it more stars if it was actually what I wanted to buy. I may return it. Gonna see how she handles trout fishing this weekend first.

Bought the 4'8 Ultra Light.Excellent rod and reel combo.The reel is Pflueger smooth. This is my second Pflueger combo. I also have a medium Pflueger President combo. Turning into a fan I suppose.The rod has good action and casts well for such a short rod length. I'm hesitant to comment more on the rod only because I just got it and only used it once so I can't speak to durability.Now the bad news:It took three Amazon deliveries to get it right. The rod tip was delivered snapped on the initial two deliveries and I had to run down to the local UPS store to send them both back. So if you are expecting same day or two day delivery, don't count on it. It took a week and a half to get an undamaged rod. That said it's a great ultra light combo and Amazon covered all return costs; so best plan ahead.
