Keeps things dry
I haven't had to test this fully submerged yet, thankfully but I have taken on a few kayaking trips and it has kept everything dry from random splashes here and there. I've been able to fit clothing, some small camping gear, and food, so it can hold quite a bit. It's not the most comfortable backpack when it's full but that's a sacrifice you make with this sort of pack. Living in the PNW I'll have plenty of other chances to try it out on the water or in the rain.

Failed waterproof test
I took it out of the package & on a plane for my vacation. I intended to use it for a full-day on a boat to keep my camera, clothing, etc. dry. I followed directions to close the bag and test waterproof by submerging with a dry paper inside. I only submerged it two minutes. It failed. The paper towel inside was wet, with water droplets throughout. I couldn't use it. Luckily, I had another, smaller, waterproof bag with me and I used that.

Good quality for the money, but not as nice as the big brands
My family spends a lot of time on and around water, so drybags and waterproof backpacks are a staple. The plus on this bag is the cost is reasonable, it's properly welded and as waterproof as any rolltop drybag ever is (which is to say, don't intentionally keep it submersed but it'll otherwise keep your stuff dry), and especially for tall folks--the backpack straps are a good length and their anchors are appropriately far apart to be comfortable. The bag is an excellent size, and it doesn't taper towards the bottom which I appreciate. It is cut to be more or less rectangular, which I prefer to an oval pack, especially when it's on your back. It doesn't have padding against your back, which I consider a perk as once the pad gets wet other bags are unpleasant to wear. The pouch for flippers is clearly designed for that, but it works great to stuff an oversized sweatshirt or something--however, since it's tapered for fins, whatever's in there isn't super secure unless it's similarly shaped and able to have the provided strap threaded through. There's pretty much no frills, no zipper pocket or smalls spot. There's also a seemingly useless strap that is positioned to cross over the buckled-down top of the bag... it may be the only huh? design element. Quality wise, the material is certainly thinner than my Patagonia dry backpack, and there is less reinforcement than even a similar dry backpack I purchased from a mega bigbox brick and mortar retailer. Also, the cuff at the mouth of the bag is reinforced with nylon, but not actually hemmed, so the fibers that make up the waterproof material are fraying at that edge after pretty minimal use. I'll revist this review once I've put the thing through some more abuse.

Great for floating trips
I took this dry bag backpack on a floating trip and it worked perfectly. All my belongings stayed dry and secure.
