I've used them both and can't say that they are exactly the same, but I liked them both. Really delicious in pancakes and French toast. That McCormick Cake Batter flavor is good too. Only problem is that I use these flavorings up way too fast. Good luck.

This is a flavoring extract, similar to vanilla extract or lemon extract; there's no salt or spice or sugar or sweetener in it, but just the buttery essence. Just like actual butter, it could be used in making sweet foods OR savory foods--it all depends on what you want to add a butter flavor to. It is fantastic in sweeter baked goods like cookies, cakes, muffins, sweet breads, etc. It's also wonderful in savory baked goods like cornbread, biscuits, cheesy scones, pot pie crusts, etc. I haven't tried it in things other than baked goods and in buttercream frosting, but I imagine there may be other applications, particularly if you can't use real butter for whatever reason.

Had to use ONE Star in order to write this review ... but should NOT even have one star!!!Horrible product!!! Does NOT taste like butter at all!!! Tastes like liquid penicillin from the 1960s with added rubbing alcohol! Glad I tasted it BEFORE pouring it into my cake batter OR onto any other food requiring a buttery taste. This product should be REMOVED from the Amazon Site.Since you CANNOT return this product, people need to know that they will NOT be getting what they think they are ordering! How can Amazon sell such a horrible product??? Not only did I taste it, I had other people taste it to make sure it wasn't just me ... they also said it was horrible!!!I am going to contact the Manufacturer and ask what they were thinking when they made this so-called "buttery" product!!! DO NOT WASTE MONEY ON THIS PRODUCT!!!

Disappointed in the flavor.

I was disappointed in the flavor. I’ve used McCormicks and found it superior, but couldn’t find any. I use butter/ nut flavoring in homemade liquors.
