HP printer/scanner
I bought this printer as my existing one did not work with an ipad or applemac computer. It was so easy to install. I followed the instructions, did not connect it to the computer but downloaded the software first. I connected the printer/scanner to my broadband and the computer more or less did the rest. All I did was follow the onscreen instructions. It works really well. It scans, prints and does everything I expected. It was simpler than I thought it would be. Yet to see if the inks are as economical as HP say.

Easy to setup and fine for occasional use
I went for this printer because the reviews said it doesn't use too much ink during the cleaning cycle. My previous printer had a non-removable print head which was ultimately the death of it - a problem that I won't encounter with this one as the print heads are on the cartridges. This does make them quite expensive, but I don't print very often at all, it is just for those moments that you really need to print something, and you can't wait until you get to work. That's also why I wanted an all in one with the scanner, for occasional copying and scanning. For those kind of print jobs this work great. The setup was very easy. I haven't even bothered to install the proper driver on my Windows 8.1 computer, as I just don't need the extra features (and added bloat) that comes with the full HP version, the basic versions that installed automatically work fine for both printing and scanning. It prints from my phone fine as well. All in all a solid product.

H.P. Heavenly Printer
This manufacture hits the spot with the Envy 5530. Packaging is a delight. Making for an easy and stress free set up.Supplied with UK & Continental power lead, no usb cable - not a problem for me - installation CD - though it was not required, a pack of [small] photo paper, and easy read instructions.Printers' touch screen is a joy to behold and a delight to use. It made installation of a secure wireless network easy. Even the sounds it emits are happy ones. A 2.4 Ghz router (sky) requires the password to be entered, which allowed all other devices to be remotely connected. So far have printed wirelessly via desk top, lap top & BlackBerry Q10.Registration includes an email address for the printer, which, yes, means that as long as there's a WiFi or phone signal available you can print directly to the 5530 from anywhere in the world, via email.Aesthetically this bannishes most upright printers to a dusty shelf. It does look good in the black & silver livery. What else?Oh, the cartridges look small but the ink is tip top. Having printed both print & images, colours seem HP vivid. It seems too easy but because of simplicity plus three price bands - which is based upon the number of pages you print monthly - I signed up for HP ink to be delivered (the 9930 emails base when it's running low) on a monthly deal, which includes discount, and bags to send recyclable cartridges back post free. And so I guess I'm helping unnecessary wastage.Only just set up, so far so blinking good.Print speeds are reasonable, noise level's fine, set up and support + free mobile apps make this printer heavenly. One tip:Ensure all internal packaging is removed otherwise the 5530 tells you off!Great addition to any desk top.Recommended, despite one or two iffy reviews here.Go wireless, Go HP!

Poor Service
Have always used HP printers so am a little biased. Needed a new printer that was multifunctional and the Envy 5530 fitted the bill. Easy to set-up for wireless so keeps my desk clear of trailing wires. Shop around for cartridges as they can be a bit on the expensive side, I refill my own. Print quality is good and quick. My only very slight moan is that the paper / prints come out of the front of the printer which takes up a little bit of desk space.Adding to the above I have now encountered a problem. When I am printing photos on photo paper it doesn't matter what setting I use it prints the leading edge borderless. If I use the same printer settings with plain 80gsm paper it prints without problems. Spent nearly one and half hours onto HP Live Chat to no avail. Am now returning it.

Not much to Envy
My previous HP Envy 120 was a beautiful piece of design and well deserving of the Envy brand. Sadly like all printers this gave up after a couple of years. The 5530 doesn't compare in any way. It's just a standard printer box that you'll see on any computer desk. Mine also appears to have been some form of return/refurb as it came with a box that had been heavily repaired with tape, and the instructions had dirty fingerprints on them! The set up is straight forward and I elected to start with a USB connection, so I can't comment on the WiFi at this stage (this was the first thing to give up on the Envy 120). In operation it's so clunkly compared with the 120, the touchscreen has to be pushed more like a button, the paper protrudes from the front, (there is a flap to close, but you need to open this during printing or it comes out creased) the scanner works OK but it took me ages to work out how to remove the chequered mask that was appearing over each document, and copying is pretty slow too. On the plus side the quality of the document is fine for my needs and it has a relatively small footprint. If it lasts a year I'll be happy, but in the meantime I'm going to keep looking for another (new) HP Envy 120.

Poor Quality & HP is trying to nullify the one year warranty.
I have had this half a year and I have run into a problem where the printer only prints half the page. HP says the warranty has expired. It expired a year before I bought it brand new??? I am fighting them on this right now because under EU consumer electronics law not only is still under it's year warranty, but they are obligated to repair it or replace if after the one year is up. After this purchase I won't be dealing with this company again.
