Quality Cable at a Reasonable Price
I got this cable to be able to record audio to my HDV camcorder in small private airplanes. It does the job and does it well. The construction of the cable is very high-quality and rugged. The connectors are well-made, not flimsy or cheap. I was especially pleased to see that the cable near the 1/4" jack has a flexible but protective wire wrapping where the cable enters the jack, so if it gets crimped or bent it will likely retain its shape afterward and not short out. The insulation itself seems to serve well, being hard enough to offer ample protection but not so hard that the cable doesn't coil well.In terms of actual use, the cable performed admirably, giving me a good signal with minimal noise. I'm not sure if the cable is up to audiophile studio standards, but for a freelance videographer using it in an airplane it did a great job. The price is also very good, considering the length and the quality construction. A cable like this (especially with the unique connectivity of male XLR to Male TRS) could easily be three times the price from a physical store. This cable is worth a buy.

Decent cable but not 16 AWG
These cables have a nice design, are pretty thick and good value, but the conductors are not 16 AWG. I unscrewed the connectors and measured the small wires with calipers. I measured 1.6mm, just the same as a mogami gold cable that is advertised as 24 AWG (2534 cable), except the mogami gold is quad so it has four of these wires instead of two for the monoprice. The monoprice is thicker on the outside, at 8mm instead of 6mm for the mogami, but that is all due to thicker outer insulation. The quality of the soldering on the monoprice is also not great, one of the cables I got had burnt insulators visible once you unscrewed the connectors, leaving the wire exposed inside the connector, which could create a short if things were to move a bit in there. This will do the job in many cases but for the next ones I think I'll look at worlds best cable that seems to be a step up with the Canare L-4E6S or Mogami 2534 cables and Neutrik connectors. Mogami is generally recommended in the studio for best shielding and lowest resistance / capacitance, while Canare has the best durability with their braided shields, making them a better option for live use.

Very impressive quality for the price
I normally don't write reviews unless I'm asked to do so but I felt like logging in to my Amazon account and write a review for these bad boys. The quality of the cable is just phenomenal for only 13$. I went to Archambault, which is a music store (Like Steve's Music in Ottawa) to buy a XLR to 1/4 Jack cable and they wanted to charge me 49.99$ for one (1) cable, not to mention how cheap the wire looked like. So I went on Amazon instead to buy one and I found this Monoprice cable for only 13$.. I thought it was going to be bad but it turned out to be one of the best audio cables I have ever purchased. It's a THICK cable, robust, kind of unbreakable with metal spring around the connector edges for better durability. For the price, it's just crazy how good it is. I will only purchase my audio wires from them from now on. The sound is not better but there's no "Bad Connecting Noise" when you plug them and high durability. Thanks Monoprice!
