A Worthwhile Upgrade.
Received my new Paperwhite Signature today and so far I couldn't be happier. i am vision impaired and although the screen is less than an inch longer than the regular Kindle, it makes a huge difference to me. The jade colour is beautiful, along with the jade cover, it's very comfortable to hold despite the larger size. It also has the option to dim or warm up the light, which I've not tried yet. Screen is very clear, no lines or distortions at all, it arrived about three quarters charged so I was able to set it up straight away. I did hesitate due to the price, but I'm glad I went ahead as this is making my reading experiecne so much easier and more enjoyable. Quality seems really good and it responds faster than my other one. All in all, I'd say it's well worth spending the extra money, especially for anyone with poor eyesight like me.

Updated to review replacement- Thankfully I love mine now because the issues resolved !
Update: So after having this kindle for a week, I just couldn’t get on with it. Something wasn’t right with it. It did still have minor ghosting but the text seemed unclear. It was a strain. I called Amazon who offered replacement because I couldn’t accept refund due to a discount code I used and wouldn’t get back! Replacement came and I was stunned at how much worse it was compared to mine. I have attached photos where you can clearly see the same brightness settings but the replacement has a yellow screen without the warmth on!! 3rd try, phoned amazon again who didn’t really understand what I was talking about but sent me another replacement. This 3rd kindle made everything fall into place. It was white. I hadn’t realised that my original was grey. Text was crisper and ghosting not a thing. It’s pretty much perfect. It disappoints me that Amazon haven’t got this right. They did not push out a consistent product and should have recalled them. I will also warn you that Amazon will send you a replacement but it will be REFURBISHED as this is part of their warranty agreement. This to me is a bit of a joke given that I bought brand new and am keeping a second hand one. I have agreed to this because it’s better than my original and I know it can’t be older than October but I think it’s shoddy. It really is pot luck on the quality of what kindle you receive. I have left the 5 stars because I love my new (refurbished) kindle. But Amazon as a company get 2 stars now.3rd photo is my original with 1st replacement4th photo original(top) 1st replacement then last replacement which I kept.Original review:Received this for Xmas (which I arranged)! Got it for a great price, Black Friday PLUS traded in my old paper white 5th gen so got an extra 20% off. I went for the SE version for the auto light adjust. I really wanted the colorsoft but have been closely monitoring the reviews and I just wasn’t prepared to risk it. I had also been closely monitoring the reviews of this kindle too. The main faults being a yellow hue, dead pixels or ghosting. I will say that researching is good but in my case I over did it and so…When I opened this on Xmas morning the very first thing I did was QC myself, probably better than what Amazon have been doing! I was looking for the faults and to my despair it had bad ghosting. I was so disappointed. I could clearly see the book covers in the background of the next page. I did call Amazon and their robot told me they wouldn’t replace as they’re out of stock but I had time to request for exchange so I left it.There was a software update but I had to do this manually which is very easy to do, as it wasn’t showing on my kindle yet. I had also researched ghosting and apparently this is normal for any eink display (within reason) I just didn’t remember my old one doing this. For whatever reason my kindle is FINE now. The ghosting seems to have settled. This might be because it’s been sitting in its box a long time and now it’s being used it’s ok. It could have something to do with the update but I don’t think so. Yes, there is very minor ghosting now but I really have to look for it otherwise I wouldn’t notice. I wish I had read a review which said “it might be ok after a few hours use” which is why I wanted to leave this here! Bad form from Amazon for all the kindle issues, I assume they wanted it pushed out for Black Friday before Xmas but that’s just not good enough for these expensive devices.Things I love on this kindle are the warm light. Makes such a difference if you’ve never had it. The auto adjust. Love that I can go to bed and it just sorts itself out in the darkness. Dark mode is cool. The colour (jade) beautiful. Page turn animations are fancy and it is super speedy. I can actually search for a book in the store without waiting a whole minute for each letter to catch up!My only con is their current reputation!Hope this helps some people because I really love mine now. I have included some photos of the ghosting I was seeing but this has resolved!

A great upgrade from my old Paperwhite.
After my trusted 6th Gen Paperwhite finally started slowing down I opted to trade it in and upgrade to a Paperwhite Signature and so far I’m really impressed with the model. It comes with a usb cord but nothing else. This is all you need to get going and use it, but it doesn’t come with any wireless charging options as the dock is sold separately (though I have found the older model dock still works with this version and it a much cheaper option to buy). The overall look is really sleek and attractive. There’s no real difference to that compared to the older models and the screen increase in size is so slight it’s not really noticeable. The screen is larger than some of e-readers (including the basic kindle) but I prefer this slightly larger size screen as I find it easy to read. The device is a good size for me too and I can still hold it and turn the page with one hand. It’s still smaller than the majority of paperback books , and way lighter! It’s actually very light in weight and doesn’t make my arms ache in bed at all. You can hardly feel it in your hand when it doesn’t have a case on and I don’t think I can really feel the weight difference in this and the basic kindle. The screen is super clear and crisp and I can easily read it. The page turning is quick and I’ve found there’s little to no lag.The main store and Home Screen is also quick and easy to navigate. The main reason I opted for the signature over the normal paperwhite was the automatic brightness adjustment and I’m really happy with that choice. The screen adjusts quickly in changing lights and subtly enough that it’s not even really noticeable as you read. It’s great when I’m reading in the car as I don’t have to keep adjusting it myself when the sun goes in and out etc.when it’s bright in the room no brightness is needed on the device at all and as it gets darker I’ve found I only really need the brightness up to 10 at most (but mainly keep it at 8). The fact it goes up to 24 it great but that does run your battery out a lot more quickly, and I honestly don’t need it that bright at all.The warmth adjustment is nice too and gives you the option to have it cooler or warmer in colour. This isn’t automatic, but I generally don’t change it once I have it set up.It does come with 32gb of storage as well so I don’t have to worry about removing each book after reading it as I have plenty of room for them all.So far I haven’t had it long enough to really test the battery but it seems to hold it really well and though I read a lot more than the 30 minutes a day I can tell this charge will still last weeks.Overall it’s obviously a huge improvement from my old 6th gen paperwhite, and I’m glad I opted for the signature for the auto adjusting back light and the option to wireless charge.I’d definitely recommend it as an upgrade to older models!
