Powerful charger
An amazeing product. It is charging my 100Ah lifepo4 battery with full 40A as it is writen. Be sure to folow all the instalation protocol because it is wery powerful unit and if you dont use right gauge wires you can burn your van. Stay safe. It is very very good charger. Great value for money.

DO NOT BUY THIS MODLE.
ordered this Reoligy charger and was immediately let down. It arrived in a broken, poorly taped-up box with no manual, no mounting hardware, and no original packaging. That's bad enough—but it gets worse. When I hooked it up, the charger simply would not start charging, no matter what I tried. I even let my battery drain down to 10V during testing—completely unacceptable and risky for any battery. I had to stop before I damaged my system further.Overall, this has been a huge letdown. Between the missing parts, bad packaging, and the product not working at all, I can’t recommend this to anyone. Very disappointed. I would give 0 stars if possible.

The unit needs to be redesigned
I installed the renogy 40 amp dc/dc charger on my sailboat. The purpose was to use a standard alternator to charge both the start and house (lithium) batteries. The small blue ignition wire does not have to be installed. I have not been able to find out from Renogy the purpose of this wire. The charger draws its power from the start batteryThe specs from renogy do not tell you that even when the engine is not running the charger will continue to draw from the start battery. The charger will draw your start battery down to 11.2 volts before separating the two banksAn additional breaker or relay is needed to prevent the start battery from being drawn downI regret buying this charger. It is not defective. Per Renogy the charger was designed to draw down your start battery

Don't think it's worth the Price seeing it failed within two months!
Doesn't seem to work properly. I can only get 8 amps out of the advertised 40 amp on the DC to DC side and 2 amp out of the solar side (MPPT) with a 100w panel. When using the DC to DC side the with the recommended 8awg wire solid copper core. The wiring from the junction block to the charger and to the lithium battery gets HOT! I have contacted the Manufacturer for a warranty replacement with no reply as of yet. I will update as soon as I get a reply. Note all connections are soldered with heat shrink. Wiring from alternator to the junction block is 2 gauge solid copper core wires with soldered terminals.

Overheats quickly when connected to truck battery. Not recommended for auto and RVs.
This box overheats to the point of being too hot to touch in about 10 mins when installed in a truck camper in a well ventilated area. We had this hooked to truck batteries and did not try the solar input.

No power came out of it
Chargers are supposed to charge. I had it connected to a LiFePo4 battery as the power source with the input wires but no power came out the clearly labeled output wires. The power light and LiFePo4 battery lights were on. I just did a major upgrade to our camper van's house electrical system including Victron DC to DC and 120v shore power to 12v house battery chargers and everything works great. I contacted Renogy support and it was worthless. Returned to Amazon. This is a new product at the time of this review and this is the first review. I really like this charger's features but need to move on.
