This Pazuzu statue, made of hand-painted resin, is stylized similar to the bronze Pazuzu statuette in the Louvre, originally made in around the year 700 BC, which shows the demon with the head of a dog and body of a man. Pazuzu, in ancient Mesopotamian mythology, was the king of the demons of the wind, or the southwestern wind, bearer of storms. Although he is an evil spirit, he wards off his rival demons who cause harm, he drives and scares off other evil spirits, and so he protects humans against harm and misfortune, and often used as an amulet against evil.
