While these bulbs are considerably more expensive than other similar bulbs, I find the quality of the light produced to be worth the hefty additional expense.

Good Product at good price.

These bulbs, along with their corresponding light fixtures, are designed to more accurately imitate natural sunlight. They are often recommended for people who experience the "winter blues" due to a lack of sunlight. I've had my fixture and these bulbs for around 15 years. While it's not a cure-all, I do believe it helps a bit. I don't just use it in the winter or on cloudy days—I often use it when I'm going to be indoors all day, like today, on my day off.

I bought this lightbulb as the second replacement I've ever needed for a Hampton Bay touch on/off desk lamp. The first replacement (LightsofAmerica) bulb on the right side of the photo, fit perfectly, worked for a few years, no problem. Today I installed the new replacement - Verilux, the left side of photo. See the tiny difference at the sides of the bulbs at the very bottom? Verilux is straight, LightsofAmerica is notched. My lamp had 2 fixed plastic "clamps" to hold to bulb in place. Now my lamp has one and the Verilux lightbulb is shoved in slightly crookedly because the clamp is pushing it out of the socket. As you can see, I've broken off the other "clamp"! Despite this unfortunate event, the light from the Verilux is noticeably brighter than I have ever remembered, AND still very pleasant and NOT glaring in my eyes!!! I use this lamp on my makeup table so I see the difference on my face in a mirror! Take your pick which is more important - a perfect fit if your lamp also has these plastic pieces, or the really nice quality of the light!!

I checked for compatibility with my lamp and info on bulb removed. This matched the specs, and upon arrival easily was installed, and upon clicking the light on button this gave perfect lighting for the area. The original bulb lasted at least 11 yeàrs. We will see if this can hold a candle to that. Used primarily for morning and evening activities including reading in otherwise dimly lit room. It does the job well! 👏🏻

We had a bulb that lasted for 8 years of before-bed-time only usage (turned on and off only once a day); when it burned out we bought two new bulbs, hoping to have 16 more years of using the old lamp. But, one of the new bulbs died in only 5 months. The bulb was used in the same environment and pattern as before, and never switched on and off repeatedly; just on for a few hours, then off once each day. The package label says, "Long-Life 10,000-Hour Bulb." So, we used it for only about 700 hours, or 7% of the expected lifetime.When we contacted Verilux, this was their response:“Please note that our warranty excludes bulbs. 10,000 hours is the Average Rated Lifetime of the bulbs based on testing. Some bulbs will last longer than the average and some will stop functioning earlier than the average hours.....”It means that there is massive inconsistency of the product quality in order to generate this kind of wide range of lifetime of the bulbs (700 hours vs. 10,000 hours). Since we got the bulbs from Amazon, they will not send us a courtesy replacement (no warranty). It is not worth it to buy an expensive bulb just to use 7% of expected time.

Great product!! We used it DAILY in our lanp above our chairs to provide light for reading. Great light, not so bright like a regular bulb.
