Hifiman Sundara vs FiiO FT-1 Pro
Wow. Everywhere everyone is talking about the rivalry between the Hifiman Sundara & the FiiO FT-1 Pro. I had a newly purchased pair of FiiOs so I decided I would order the Sundaras & do a side-by-side myself. Same amp, same source, same songs. The Fiio FT-1 Pro is lightweight, comfortable, & wide open on the sound stage front. They're like the old Magnapan home speakers - "sound as clear as light". In comparison the Sundara is a darker sound, the frequencies are more obscured, & the soundstage is not as wide. They are SUBSTANTIALLY less efficient so I had to crank the volume up much higher for the Sundaras than the FT-1 Pros. The FiiOs are clear & bright, the bass is well pronounced & vocals shine. The highs are very crystalline & enjoyable. The bottom line is I am still listening to the FT-1 Pros & the Sundaras are back in Amazon's hands & I am waiting for them to deem me worthy of a refund. Go with the FiiO's - they are an absolute steal for the price. They actually make my Sennheiser HD650's sound dark & muffled too & I didn't think that was even possible.

Great Sound, Limited Lifespan, Plastic Adjustment Collars BAD
First, I loved these headphones for as long as they lasted. They had great sound, plush ear pads, and plenty of room for the ear cups. However, the design relies on a plastic collar for headphone adjustment. Why would a premium, mostly metal product, have such a clear design flaw weakness built into it? The plastic adjustment collar finally snapped in half, making my headphones useless, as everything connected to the left ear cup falls into multiple separate pieces. Literally 95% of the headphones in metal, a leather strap and ear cups, then the only plastic fails and cuts my ear in the process of breaking.
