Shark Tungsten Carbide Steel Kitchen Knife Sharpener Pocket for Chef

I really hate dull knives...like when I'm cooking in my daughter's kitchen. This slick carbide sharpener is THE answer. It puts an edge on a dull knife in just a few strokes...much faster than a steel or stone. Then just a few strokes on a steel or ceramic rod before each use and you're ready to go. This sharpener is the only sharpener we use, it is very easy to use and puts a very sharp edge o your knife. Plus it also has another use it sharpens scissors with the slide out sharpener which is good for serrated knives.

If you are a professional chef and take your knives to a person to have them sharpened, then more power to you. I just have a cheap set of knives that I have had for years now. This thing works like a dream for me. My knives become really sharp using it. Yes, I do see flecks of metal, but as I said before my knives did not cost all that much and they are sufficient for my needs.

This is my 2nd go around with the Shark. I bought one at least 12 to 15 years ago. They last and are a good bargain for their durability. With that being said, things were made differently back then, not that long but in the fast buck profit times we live in, only time will tell. If I come back for a 3rd in 15 years then I guess it was worth it.

My son has one of these from years ago, and I needed a knife sharpener, so I added this one to my order. It came in with directions only in Spanish. And since I can't read or speak Spanish, I called Amazon.com to get directions in English. They were unable to send me directions, but the Customer Service Rep. was terrific. She stayed on the phone with me until were found the directions in English - about an hour!! So if you Google "Samurai Knife Sharpener directions," one site will pop up in PDF form with two pages of directions in English (Tip: The writing is very small, so I enlarged it on my printer). It's worth getting the directions; there are a few tips that make this knife sharpener easier to use and capable of doing more that the eye can see.

I have always loved these little knife sharpeners. They are portable, convenient, and give a nice edge on our kitchen and fillet knives. I also use to sharpen my scissors. Great product.

Best knife sharpener ever! Buy it .... you'll agree! No instructions I knew how to use it. I took my first one to my church....tons of dull knives in the drawer:) Found out I needed another one for me! Complete instructions on youtube. Very easy yo use!

Not totally useless! While it doesn't get your blade sharp enough to cut fresh meats without serious hacking (I'm using it on hunting knives, not kitchen knives), it does hone it down to where you can spend a lot less time with a fine grit sharpening stone to get it to that point. One star because I've had it a little over a month, I've use it maybe a dozen times and it broke! Can no longer be adjusted and the carbides just spread apart if you put any pressure on them like, say, if you're trying to sharpen a blade!! Came highly recommended, broke a week outside the return window! VERY DISAPPOINTED!!
