Manatee Gourmet CoffeeManatee Blend, 2 lb. Whole Bean

I tried this on a whim. One of my favorite coffees is Barney's Santa's White Christmas so I thought this might be similar. As a diver and Florida resident I love Manatees so anything supporting them is a plus.The coffee flavor is fabulous! Very rich flavors - creamy and nutty, very well balanced. I've purchased French Vanilla flavored coffee from other roasters in the past and the flavor was so overwhelming it was obnoxious and I had to mix it just to finish it. This is NOT the case with this coffee! A perfect mix of flavored coffee in my opinion. I brew in an espresso machine, a french press, and a Melitta drip and it is fantastic in all 3 formats.

The coffee package indicates it is 340g per bag. I weighed each bag in preparation for making cold brew, and they are actually about 225g each. This is incorrect labeling.The coffee itself is good, tho I personally would prefer less of the hazelnut/caramel/coconut flavoring so the coffee flavor can shine through more. However, this may be unbalanced because I made it as a cold brew and not as hot coffee. I'd rate the coffee for cold brew at 4 stars, as it is hard to find good decaf coffee. (My own favorite is illy's for unflavored decaf coffee).But the package weight is seriously off, which is unforgiveable, so I rate this as two stars total.

As soon as I opened the bag I knew this was not what I was looking for. I have a pretty good sense of smell and all I could smell was a very strong caramel. When I put the grounds in the basket I did get a light note of coconut. Sadly, all I could taste was a strong caramel with a light hint of coconut. I was buying this mostly for the hazelnut with a hint of coconut/caramel. Caramel is my least favorite. I was very happy that it was a low acid coffee. I will keep it. But, I won't buy it again.Update: I noticed if I use less grounds, the caramel flavor is not as intense. I actually can taste a hint of coconut. Still no hazelnut.

I was optimistic when I ordered, as well as when I received the order, but this quickly faded. My biggest complaint is that this is advertised as a dark roast, but it is no where near a typical dark roast. NOTE: This is a review for the DECAF coffee. At first I really liked this coffee, and was going to give it 5 stars. But after a few bags, I realized it was more the added flavoring that I liked, because I wasn't getting a lot of coffee flavor through. I'm thinking it's not a very dark roast and that's why it's a little light on flavor. So I might keep ordering it, but I'll order it to mix with something a little stronger so I can get the best of both worlds: the hint of coconut from this coffee, and a stronger coffee flavor from another one.

I ordered this coffee because it said, "Decaf." I didn't grab my reading glasses and carefully check the label when I got it, which I guess I should have done, and within an hour or so of drinking two cups of this tasty coffee, my hands started to shake. I began to wonder if I should call 911, but then I remembered the corona quarantine, so I lay down and prayed for it to stop. When my husband got home, he noticed that the three bags I bought were regular coffee, which he prefers. So, we'll keep the coffee but I will never buy this brand again.

I have to drink my coffee half regular and half decaf. So, I like flavored coffee too. My regular beans are a low-acid, organic, whole bean coffee. I have tried many different flavored decaf coffees -- mostly locally from our "specialty" store, and some online. I have ended my search with this Manatee Caribbean Delight Decaf Whole Bean coffee. It's just overall great. It's got a great mellow but hearty flavor, meaning that it's rich but not overly powerful with an artificial taste. The aroma of this coffee speaks to its ability to deliver a delicious taste without adding any awful pseudo-hazelnut/vanilla/unknown flavorings. It stands the test throughout the day in maintaining its properties even when it's been sitting out for several hours. (I am a nurse; it is not uncommon to drink my coffee over a 4+ hour period of time -- permitting.)

As someone who suffers with GERD I truly appreciate a low acid coffee. Combine that with a must-have decaf option that is also whole bean AND flavored hazelnut with caramel and we have a winner! I grind 2 scoops of Manatee with 1 scoop of Puroast low acid French deep roast with 2 cups of water. That combo gives me the depth I'm looking for while not causing acid reflux or a jittery heart. Highly recommend!!

Bought this after trying Healthwise (ranked bottom) and Puroast (second). Manatee is truly a low-acid and decaf with dark roast taste. The aroma is strong. And the low-acid is real. Of the three, Healthwise is the worst in terms of acid levels (high) and Puroast has the lowest acid. That said, becos the low acid in Puroast, it taste flatter. Manatee is a good balance between taste and low-acid. It gets a five star rating from me.
