Excellent replacement for my audio-technica ATH-M40fs!
Honestly, these cups are better than new. These are a tad thinner and a tad softer than what I remember of my stock ear cushions. (The original cups got really bad in the end, flaking faux leather everywhere.) These replacement cups seem to be better constructed than the original cups. They have some stitching around the edges of the leatherette material. And the material itself feels more supple. My original cups got really warm over extended periods of time, these don't seem to get as hot. (hard to measure though...) I wear glasses and my original cups, due to the stiffer and/or thicker foam, would press the arms to my head and cause discomfort for long listening sessions. I haven't experienced any discomfort with these cups. Go figure. I never expected the difference to be so profound. YMMV, but for me the comfort is vastly improved. Feels like a brand new pair of phones. The fit is a tad wonky. They aren't made for these headphones specifically, but it fits fine. Doesn't affect their performance in any way. It's pretty finicky to get them on and off, but you only have to do it once. I found it was easiest to stretch the edge over the groove of the cups all around, and then "roll" the edge back and inside the groove with the pad of my finger, working my way all around the edge.Sound quality wise, it's hard to say without listening back to back. Due to the flaking of my original cups, I haven't listened to them in a while. So I really can't comment, other than to say that my phones still sound great. If you're looking for an upgrade sound wise, I dunno . . . If you're looking for an upgrade comfort wise, go for it. For me these cups rock! Wish I ordered them a long, long, time ago.

The HPAEC440 are PERFECT for Sony V6 & 7506 headphones. Awesome fit, comfort, feel and sound isolation. Great price too..!
I recently purchased these for replacing my worn out Sony MDR-7506 headphone ear pads. All I can say is WOW !!!! These are absolutely perfect for them. They have a smooth surface whereas the original Sony ear pads were sort of crinkled in appearance. These create a a perfect seal and the sound is awesome - I should have replaced the much worn Sony's sooner. They are also extremely comfy, very soft and feel great on my head and completely encircle my ears. Installation was extremely easy - 5 minutes tops from opening the box to having them on the headphones and plugged in. There are a number of reviews on this Amazon site that state these pads are way too loose for the Sony''s V6 and 7506. That is INCORRECT or AT LEAST MISLEADING as they are referring to the HPAEC840 pads which are bigger and would be loose on the Sony headhphones. Apparently all the reviews for Shure replacement pads are lumped together in the reviews here on Amazon. These pads (HPAEC440) are smaller than the 840's and fit perfectly on the Sony 7506. I believe that the 7506 and Sony V6 headphones are very, very similar in design and structure so I would expect these to fit the same on those. If you want these for replacement of Sony ear pads, just make sure you buy the ones for the Shure HPAEC440. I placed these right on top of the Sony pads I removed and they are exactly the same size however the Shure provides a little more room for your ear inside. The outside or part of the pads that fit on the Sony ear cups appear to be almost identical. So for you Sony V6 and 7506 owners looking for some awesome pads (at a great price too) look no further - buy these. I feel sure you'll be very satisfied.

Simple Truth about the ATH-M50x (or m50) + Shure 840 pads.
So I bought these recently because the stock pads on my m50x headphones hurt the corners of my ears and delivered way to much pressure to my head. So after trying these out I will give you the simple truth since there seems to be so many mixed reviews here. This is completely from my own experience and I am no expert, I am an average consumer with a good ear and a good sense for quality (or so I'd like to think!).REVIEW:Are these bigger than the stock pads?Yes, these are much bigger than the stock pads, side by side they have about 30% more space. The hole is also much bigger and the corners of my ears no longer hurt. HOWEVER, these pads are almost identical in thickness. So if your issue is your ears touching the drivers (hard speaker part), then this will not help. Are these comfortable?Very. I wore them for hours and barely felt them on my ears. They may fit a bit loose but with the m50s tight pressure it hold them in place. Another DIY fix to that is putting a hair tie in the slot to hold them in place (works great). Another important thing in that my ears did not overhead nor get sweaty wearing these.Does it change the sound?Ok, so, this question seems to be the most controversial anywhere on the internet. You don't know if someone is being super picky or if they have no idea what they are talking about. I'm about to tell you exactly what I heard and nothing else (no technical talk). Here we go.When I put these on I immediately noticed a change in the sound. It is pretty noticeable because it changes the overall sound of the music, movie, game, etc. The high notes sound sharp, as if trying to overpower the rest of the music. It can become uncomfortable, but it's not overbearing. Secondly, the middle notes (mids) sound much quieter, definitely pushed back. Lastly, and apparently most important, the bass is very much affected. I don't know why, but the bass notes sound much less pronounced and much quieter, almost underwhelming. The m50s already have a good flat bass sound, this feels like it's being filtered and it's not coming through. Overall the sound changes to what I would describe as a pair of $50-80 headphones with a much lower volume. HOWEVER, after wearing them for about an hour, my ears got accustomed to the sound and it blended together a little better as my ears adjusted.Final thoughts? These pads definitely make the m50s much more satisfying and comfortable to wear. But they do change the sound (in my opinion, not really for the better, but if you're not picky, it's not a deal breaker by any means). For $20, it's worth trying out for yourself. After using these I realized that any other brand or material would definitely change the sound much more drastically than these, so I would recommend these above any other pads if you are currently searching for something to relieve that pain.If anyone has any tips or mods you can do to these pads to make them sound a little more like the originals, Please comment on this review, I and anyone else who reads this will be glad to know there are fixes to any minor inconveniences these pads bring.Thank you for reading this and I hope you find that amazing comfort these awesome sounding headphones, and you, deserve! :)
