My nephew drinks a lot of wine and is always looking for an opener. I ordered this for him as a spare and he was skeptical, but amazed how easily it works! Hint: don’t hold the opener with your other hand when uncorking… just hold the bottle. I took off one star because it came loose in a plastic bag and didn’t present well as a gift.

I bought three of these for stocking stuffers, and only one of them works. The one that does work pumps very hard. The other one pumps but no air comes out and it’s very very stiff and the third one when I tried to pump it something happened to the inside and now it’s really loose doesn’t do anything. Don’t waste your money get the real one that’s made out of aluminum. OK well I was trying to make a video to show you how it doesn’t pump in the plastic piece broke, and the needle stabbed me. Just threw it in the garbage. Don’t know why so many people said this is a good product. Guess I can’t trust the reviews.

Very easy to use

OK, I must confess I expected this gadget to quickly stop working if at all, as it looks a bit flimsy. Well I have been using it almost every day for the last 6 months and it works great and is still going strong. Simply insert the needle through the cork and pump the handle until you feel the cork begin to pop up, then pump slowly till it comes out. Occasionally the hole in the needle may pick up a bit of cork that blocks the air flow, but it can be clear out very easily. The foil cutter is flimsy and did not last long but the cork popper is fantastic!

OK. So this is a really amazing little device if you're looking for a simple way to open a bottle of wine. Push the needle into the cork, push a little air into the bottle, and the cork pops out like a champagne cork :-)Caveat: this is my third one of these. The first two were part of "deluxe" kits that came with multiple tools. Both failed after about a year of use. It appears the seal on the pump wears out, and the air begins to leak out of it, preventing it from pushing sufficient air through the needle to pop the cork.I was relieved to find I could buy just this 2-pc set (though I now have three foil cutters), rather than the full kit at twice the price. I'm giving it five stars because I love it when it works. And I'm hoping this one outlasts the previous two!

We absolutely loved this thing when we first got it. We go through hundreds of bottles every year and just got fed up with our electric, screw in, or even the "rabbit" versions. Too slow. This thing is super fast. Just a couple of pumps and the cork is out.Important note: one day the clear plastic part popped off the black needle/pump. We thought it broke. It wasn't until close inspection that it was easily put back together. There are notches in the black plastic "tip" (below the actual needle), and there are grooves in the clear plastic piece. You can rotate the clear cover and easily pop it off the black needle. You can also put it back together and rotate the piece to lock it. Pretty simple and it's probably in the directions (which we never read let's be honest).Overall great little gadget!
