Great stain and coverage but colour bleeds alot
I have used Henna for many years due to an allergy to chemical hair dyes. I use henna then indigo as a 2 step process but I thought id try the deep red henna for a change and to see if i liked it enough to grow the indigo out and use just henna on my greys, ( i dont). I mixed it with some lemon juice and warm water and left it to sit for the stain release before applying then leaving on for 4 hours. The colour is slightly darker than the usual bright copper orange of henna but it wasnt deep red on me and still had a copper orange hue even after a few days left to develop. It wasnt enough of a difference from the plain henna for me to want to use it again. I stress here this is only on my grey hair, the rest of my hair is too dark for it to show up, the colour may be completely different on non grey hair. The stain on this is very strong and completely covered all of my greys, take care when applying as it really does stain anything it comes into contact with and quickly. Rinsing took alot longer than usual and the reason i have given 4 stars is the colour bleeds. I have had many other henna from both this company and others and this is the only henna i have ever used that bleeds. Even over a week later after applying indigo and washing with an sls free shampoo my hair is rinsing with an orange tint to the water and slight transfer to towels. Personally I would not use this again as it does not suit my needs and the colour bleed is annoying, i will stick to the standard henna and continue to 2 step dye with indigo.

loved it!
so easy to use, i literally just mixed the powder with warm water and after coating all of my hair i put it up for around 3 hours. keep in mind my hair was a light orange before this- this will not cover dark hair the way it has for mine. it was so shiny for so long i loved and would recommend!

You get the colour but it will bleed endlessly until it's gone!!! Not buying again
So This henna is great. On the first two pictures you can see the immediate result and the third one is what my hair was before, I already had ginger tint to it from normal copper henna. I wanted more cool tone red so I bought this and indigo to cover the gingerness. It did a great job, keep in mind I added 2 tablespoons of indigo mix into it to make it darker and cooler so that may help I guess. I can still see some warm tones in the lengths but it's not so bad. I'd give it 4,5 stars but it didn't let me so the reason I am giving four is that it bleeds like hell! I had to rinse it so many times, it took me like 40 minutes to do it. It is probably the clay in it. Applying vinegar wash after rinse help. I hope it won't bleed much when I wash my hair. Please make sure you wash with cold water!UPDATE : ok so after about a two and a half months of having this henna on my hair I must remove one star as it still bleeds every single time I wash my hair! It is due to the red clay in the mixture which gets you that wine red colour but unfortunately it bleeds until is not there anymore. Not buying again

Excellent natural looking beard dye
I wear a goatee and it had a lot of grey in it, but my natural hair colour is very dark brown. I was tempted by Just for Men but put off by the horror stories about blistering skin and so forth, so I decided to give this stuff a go. I followed the advice given in another review and mixed one teaspoon of the henna and three teaspoons of the dark brown mix, and used coffee to make it into a sludge which I left on my beard for about 2 hours. The result was quite pleasing; although the grey wasn't gone it was tinted dark brown which looked quite natural. A couple of days later I repeated the process adding a dash of apple cider vinegar (as per the included instructions) which deepened the tint a bit further. If my grey had completely gone I think the result would have looked unnatural, as it is the grey is closer in hue to the rest of my beard but the variation in tone looks very natural, unlike products like Just for Men which give a much more uniform result. Next time I think I'll use a slightly higher proportion of the dark brown in the mix as my natrual colour is very dark, and I think just topping up every 3-4 weeks will be sufficient. My original sludge used 4 teaspoons of the powders and I ony used half of it on the two applications (if that) so I expect the contents of the packet to last for months, if not years. Great value and a great result.

Very Mild
I have been doing henna on my hair for six months. I also got into conditioning powders like brahmi and amla powders. I felt like this henna left my hair feeling very smooth and soft but I didn’t get much colour like there was more of the conditioning powders in the mixture although it doesn’t say that in the ingredients. I got less intensity than the light mountain bright red, it was quite mild. Also even though I rinsed it for 20 minutes thoroughly powders kept falling from my hair as I dried it and my combs changed colour after brushing my hair. I did follow the instructions correctly leaving the henna to set 8 hours before using, though the instructions are not as detailed as other henna products I have used. I will go back to light mountain once I try the burgundy pack I already bought and continue my conditioning powders in between hennas. This did not stand out from the other hennas I used though it advertises to be so.

Not as dark as I thought it would be, thankfully!
I usually buy the red shades, which comes with one bag of powder. Fancied trying the dark brown colour for a change. This comes with a bag of pure henna and a bag of the dark brown colour, which I believe is the indigo powder. You are meant to apply the pure henna first for a few hours, rinse this off and then apply the other powder and leave for a few hours again. After using the Q&A section I was advised that you can mix both powders together and apply to the hair as one. But was also told that for best results to apply separately. To save time I applied in one go. I was worried about it coming out too dark but the colour makes a nice change and wasn’t as dark as I thought it would be. Henna guys have some lovey shades, the reds are amazing and the best henna product I have tried.

Lovely colour, left hair in great condition
My hair is bob length so this packet covered me for two applications. The colour is a nice deep red, but as with all henna it does fade to a much lighter red over a period of weeks. I find Henna conditions my hair much more than any other hair dye and I feel better about putting it on my hair than drying chemical hair dyes. Be warned it can take more than 10 minutes to rinse it out of your hair, but the result is worth it. Another tip is to put some petroleum jelly around your hairline and ears before applying this product, and of course do not forget to wear the supplied gloves otherwise you will look like you smoke 80 a day!One additional thing I did notice is that this product continuously washes out over a period of weeks, if I were going swimming I would be worried about a little bit of dye going in to the pool as every time I got in to my bath and dunked my hair in the water a little bit of red dye would come out in to the water - not sure why it does this as I have not experienced this with other Henna dyes.

I always got great results following those instructions
I've only purchased this because my regular dark brown "henna" was out of stock. I use henna with indigo regulary to condition and dye my hair and if i go too long without it, i have to switch back to chemical conditioners, and i am trying to avoid that. First of all, when i started henna on my hair i thoroughly did my homework, spoke to some indian women and so on. I always got great results following those instructions. I don't know if anybody else noticed, but the instructions on this product are quite off. It does not explain the chemistry of the 2 plants so you can use your own brain to get it right. You need to understand, henna and indigo are very different. You should always leave the henna mixture for 8h or more (not 2h), pretty much until you see it turning from greenish to redish (when the pigment is starting to activate) and leave it in your hair overnight. With the indigo on the other hand, you need to use it as soon as you've mixed it and you have a max colouring time of 4h. Also, if you use the 2 phase methode that they recommend so much, your hair will be more on the brunette side rather than dark brown. So if you need dark brown, mix the henna first, 8h later add the indigo, apply immediately and leave for 4h tops. And yeah, try spreading 50g of clay on your medium lenght hair and then barely spread another 100g.They also don't mention the fact that you need a form of acid to activate henna. Lemon juice and strong brew tea or coffee to mix it, which opens up the posibility of using a little oil to ease the whole process. They just say "don't use oil!".About 3 weeks later the colour has faded almost completely and it's lost its bouncy healty look.

Intense henna colour
Easy to use and it will last me around 3-4 applications I think (shortish hair). More expensive than I'm used to, my local health food shop sells henna for 30p a bag, but I thought I'd try this for a change. It is very intense in colour. Very. Next time I'll only leave it for 40mins or so, not a couple of hours. But colour is nice, covers grey strands very well indeed and it is lasting well. 4 weeks on and the colour is still very good, in fact it's now settled to be less bold! Hair is shiny and well conditioned afterwards.

Colour didn't really work
Unfortunately this time the henna hardly changed the red of my hair. Ive been applying henna for a few years now and so my hair is already henna Auburn red, ive used this bright red before and had nice results but this time despite leaving it on for 3and half hours the colour hardly changed so im quite disappointed, but hopefully the seller will refund me, especially as the price has doubled!!

Highly recommend! Fantastic product!
This is the first time I ever tried henna, I stopped using other dyes a long time ago as they destroy my hair and the chemicals always burned my head not to mention what they do to my lungs!I would recommend this to anyone, it changed my hair to the colour I really wanted and is still exactly the same now. It hardly ever comes out in the water like the chemical versions do everytime you wash your hair. I don't use shampoo's to wash my hair just bs followed by a good condition from acv and tea tree EO.My hair has never dried, in fact it is it's healthiest it has ever been!If you want to have a stunning colour change but without hurting yourself and your body, go for it!The pack comes with the gloves and the hat inside the packet. The only thing I would say if you don't like the 'soil' kinda smell which is the only downside to this (can't complain considering the smell of the chemical versions) add an EO. There is no need to wash after application and I left it on for the full 3 hours. I have long hair thick naturally curly hair and it only took one pack.

Very pleased!!
I have returned to henna after many years of chemical dyes. Don't know why i stopped using henna really. All you have to remember is to prepare your henna in advance. Saying this i wanted it done and didnt have time so i thought I'll just treat it as a great hair conditioner. I made the paste and actually mixed both together so only one step, applied it to my long hair wrapped it in cling film and put a nice scarf on my head. I left it on for a good 8 hours and then washed it off. It left a beautiful rich brown with natural tones you just don't get with chemical dyes. My hair is shiny and really well conditioned and it smells beautiful and earthy, if you like that kind of thing, which i do. Covered all greys, although i don't have that many just yet, just some roots. For me, this will be the way to go from now on and i will be buying this repeatedly. A real treat for the hair. Very pleased.

More like brown than burgundy
I really wanted to get intensive burgundy colour with henna and was hoping this one will be good as the reviews are great but unfortunately I am disappointed. I left the mix to rest for 3-4h instead of 8-10h and this is the only thing that might have affected the result. It’s nice but it’s more brown. Only on certain lights it shows the red shade.

Very long process…
Make sure your schedule is clear for the whole day as you will need to use this product. Probably best to buy cream henna!
