Gives good hair color, cheap for the size!
Great henna. Been dying my hair with henna since my 20s for fun and to control dandruff, and now I’m dying to cover greys in my 40s. I wasn’t sure about this henna as I feel like all brands are a hit and miss. I’ve gotten fake powders or old powders in the past from supposedly good brands from my Indian grocery stores that don’t develop color. Glad to report this one works and dyed my greys and my skin also LOL. Good price for the size and I like that it’s organic. I have no idea if the henna plant utilizes pesticides but the price is cheap as the Indian store boxes are usually smaller. I have thick hair and a lot of it so I probably use more powder than most people. Mix with part water or tea and an acid like lemon juice, vinegar or wine. Don’t listen to people who say just use water, henna needs an acid to develop.

Amazing henna!
I love this henna powder. I wanted to find a more economical henna than the packets that I have been using for the past few years. I've had this bag for over 3 months and it's the third time that I've applied it to my hair and it works amazing to hide my grays. I have naturally black/dark brown hair and this will add reddish brown while adding thickness. For application, I add just enough boiling water to create a thicker than pancake batter consistence plus a tablespoon of lemon juice. Set in a warm spot for 3 hours. Add instant coffee for a darker brown. Apply and let sit for 3 hours with a shower cap and towel. Rinse with hot water, apply conditioner, rinse, blow dry. The color will continue to develop over the new few days.

100% organic henna (no additives or chemicals)
I use henna to cover my grays and to strengthen my hair. I was a little sad when Starwest botanicals stopped selling my trusted henna and I had to find a new brand. Enter Vitamatic. This henna is certainly the real deal and way stronger than what I'm used to. I usually prepare the henna when I get home from work and then apply it before bed and sleep in it. This henna gets SO DARK if left on for 5 or more hours. I still need to play around with the timing of how long I let it sit and how long I leave it in my hair since this is a new brand of henna. I think this makes my hair incredibly and deeply orange, which is not necessarily my favorite but at least it covers my grays! I usually add a little turmeric, amla, and aloe vera to my henna powder but still also have to play around with this blend so that I can get back to the light golden brown color that was my goal. As another reviewer mentioned, this henna gets real clumpy when you're mixing it, but that doesn't affect the final outcome. The lumps mostly work themselves out when you leave the henna to settle.

Does the job well
Smells and looks like high quality henna powder, about 8 ounces of this with pure, unsweetened cranberry juice (not from concentrate) to a thick sour cream consistency, let the mix sit for about 6 hours for the dye to release, and then I applied the paste to my hair overnight (it stains, so use gloves, vaseline on your hairline, ears, etc, and a hair cap, I also used saran wrap over the cap!). It covered my grey hairs well and mellowed to auburn brown with red highlights over a few days. I've been using another brand of pure henna powder to dye my gray hair for a while, but decided to try this on a whim because it was cheaper and delivery was faster, and while it might be a little less reddish than the other brand, it still works very well. If your main concern is grey hair coverage and not achieving a red tone on naturally brown hair, I recommend it.
