This is a very dense case that seems to provide excellent protection. It is not hard but more of a dense rubber. I'm very happy with it.

does the original screen protector comes off with this case?

I am not sure about original screen protector but my 3rd party tempered glass screen protector did come off. The edges are too "tight" if that make sense.

How does it compare to the original cover that comes with the 7T? Does it have the same reassuring lips around the camera and the front corners?

It feels way better than the included case. It has lips around the camera and corners.
